Popular Post Face
I know the "Marcus played bad vs the scheme was terrible" argument has gotten very old, and I'll say I've especially gotten sick of it myself. But the way Nick Foles has played, and the way he played under Chip in 2013, versus how he played under Fisher (who I love) speaks incredible volumes. Goff is another one. He & Wentz looked pretty bad as rookies, and weren't nearly as good as Marcus. This year they pu up superstar numbers in excellent systems...... charleytolar
I didn't see Brady make a play tonight that Marcus wouldn't have made. He was throwing to wide-open receivers underneath and, oh yeah, Marcus would have caught that pass. I don't remember Brady having to throw very much, if at all, into any tight windows. Pats receivers just lope down the field to a hole in the defense and Brady practically lobs it to them. TeamBass

headhunter
Marcus would thrive so much with things spread out attacking all 3 levels.

I hear that but isn't the fact that guys are so wide open make decision-making easier? Plus, the first option seems always to be there. I'm not really here to knock Brady. He's fantastic but there is more to it than that. The system he plays in makes him better than he probably is. Honestly, did Brady do anything that Marcus couldn't have done tonight? XAEA12
Also a win for the "doesn't need a lot of experience" crowd. Pederson was a HS coach 9 years ago and only a coordinator a couple years and here he wins in his second year as head coach. It's the time for new blood in this league Edited February 5, 2018 by JNew Number9, and MIKE75 1

Honestly, did Brady do anything that Marcus couldn't have done tonight? His pocket movement is the difference and what Mariota wouldn't be able to do as of now. Maybe Mariota will get there, but he's not there yet as far as how he manipulates the pocket. Brady numerous times tonight made subtle moves in the pocket to avoid rushes and find the open guy. Mariota doesn't do that. A lot of it with Brady is experience but I don't think the old coaches even worked with Mariota, or at least worked enough with him on his pocket manipulation skills. Hopefully that'll change with some competent coaching. Huston, Tormentedrose, Flarb, and 6 others

It's the time for new blood in this league I think the new blood is more likely to coach like Pederson did tonight. How many of the older coaches would have punted on 4th down in the 4th or kicked the FG at 15-12? Plenty. We know what Mularkey would have done. I think that's the thing most of us have noted with frustration: why is it so rare for our guys to be wide open compared to so many others teams' receivers? Are all our guys just too slow (Moulds) or stupid (Britt - but heck he used to get open... still wins for stupid hands down) to ever make to happen? Or yes, could it be play design? Every now and then we saw some truly beautiful moments this season, like that TD to Jonnu Smith out of the backfield. But way too little, too infrequently. Really, REALLY hoping Lafleur can put some TIDE on this dirty shirt and make it new again. Bluth, XAEA12, No1TitansFan, and 4 others

No doubt a 17-year (?) veteran has a better feel for that stuff, but there was not much push on the pocket tonight and Graham's sack late was the first one by the Philly defense. I mean, Brady threw for over 500 yards! The biggest difference to me is Brady throwing to guys who are WIDE OPEN. TitanDuckFan

I think it'll be different next year with the wide open receivers for Mariota. But Brady is able to do things in the pocket to buy time that Mariota can't do yet.
