Should Marcus be paid top 5 money?

Recommended Posts

Listening to the Wake Up Zone this morning, they were talking about the money Smith got, and what Cousins will want money wise. And were talking about Marcus getting paid after next year and the money he would command. Is he worth top 5 money? I just don't see paying him that much, just don't think he is good enough to get it. What will the Titans do, pay up or move along?

Right now, no.  But we'll pay him.  That's what you have to do.  It's not saying "this guy is a top 5 QB, and will be paid as such".  It's just about when his contract is up.  Not sure who it is at the moment, but Stafford's contract at the time made him the highest-paid player.  And he's, of course, not nearly the best player in the league.  The market is driven higher every year.

Too early to tell. If he plays poorly this question becomes legit. If he plays how he is capable of playing then there is no question to lock him down.

He will be tagged/paid next year 99%. Only if he gets hurt next year (or awful play) will throw a wrench into the plan. Even then I would say they will probably tag him and draft a QB high. AAS loves him and why not? Since she has taken over the team he has made her the most amount of money any other player on the team has by about 5x. Remember he was the #1 selling rookie jersey his first year and 16th overall in the whole NFL. Which is almost unheard of for Titans. As a business it is always hard to get rid of your cash cow. If he gets hurt or plays awful then and only then will JROB make the steps to implement the next course of actions this team needs.

No, he's not worth top 5 money and never will be... not enough arm strength... sorry kool-aiddrinkers

Arm strength?  Really?  His arm is plenty strong.

You know who doesn't have a big arm?  Drew Brees.

Has Mariota ever completed a pass over 25 yards? Just through the air ---YAC doesn't count...

Brees can throw a deep ball sorry...
