Face
He didn't know Bettcher would be available at the time he was interviewed. But you'd figure he'd know if he could get Day or not. 2 year commitment or not, it's pretty bad that day turnes us down. Im not sure what's going on with Callahan. We're interviewing him for OC but he's talking to the Jets & Raiders about being the QB coach? That's weird. Do we want the guy or not? Because if we're the only ones offering an OC position it should be a no brainer. Unless he's waiting for DeFillipo...... The process does seem a bit awkward though. I don't think Mariota is as high up as Robinson's plan to completely revamp the entire organizational structure the way he wants it. That started with getting rid of Mularkey and getting his own hand picked head coach that sees things like him. Coaches come and go, even players. Coordinators don’t make the calls on position coaches. Crazy. Huston
tgo
Something to keep in mind regarding the Texans assistants that Vrabel is trying to poach: They're currently coaching in the senior bowl, so they cannot "agree" to join a new staff yet until it's over. Not only would it not be fair to Bill O'Brien for them to depart early, but it would also be advantageous for the Titans for them to continue coaching the players in the senior bowl from both a scouting/draft and future preparation standpoint. So when it comes to Bowen and Weaver, I wouldn't expect any news until later. Also, Pat O'Hara is a guy I could see them targeting for QB coach. He's the assistant QB coach for the Texans and has been with them a few years. The Vikings are looking at Texans QB coach Sean Ryan as an option for OC, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's on our shortlist for OC as well. The Browns interviewed him for their OC position previously. Edited January 25, 2018 by tgo

If He doesn’t make strides this year and look the part, then we’re on to the next one which hopefully isn’t a QB that needs a complete overhaul on fundamentals QB mechanics

Leaving JRob with no HC, and no choice. So he asked MV, if he was ready to be a HC. This really is odd. Even guys that step into their first gig as a HC usually have people ready to join them as coordinators and position coaches. Mularkey abandoning this opportunity really never did make sense, so I can understand why JRob wouldn't have guessed Mularkey would up and leave. i dont think he'd go about it that way if plans fell through. he'd be more likely to do a real search than just hire vrabel. 15 hours ago, IsntLifeFunny said: I don’t get this line of thinking. Bettcher is going to a place that will have more of an opportunity to further his career. The Day situation is strange, but are we even sure this was his first choice? we are more sure about day than bettcher.
