What is simple minded is your response. First off 80% of republicans support the border wall, and not all Republicans are Trump supporters. So that is just a stupid analogy that many on here keep using.

Self reported republicans have reduced dramatically as many are now calling themselves independents. The remaining repub party is indeed the party of Trump and as such % of repubs doesn’t mean what it used to.

again, I’ll defer to William Hurd on this topic as he is uniquely poised to render an expert opinion on the complexities of the issue rather than lockstepping with the fear mongering being pushed by Fox, et al.

Good thing from the border security package approved is the increase in immigration judges. That backlog is out of control, and this is money wisely spent if immigration control is a priority.

I agree many are going independent. And many true conservatives aren't Trump fans either. My opinion is both the left and right have become too radical and too far apart. Until we see some moderation, there will be very little cooperation on anything.

It’s going to get worse, as Trump has become toxic for many centrists, and the majority of Americans have moved leftwards on major issues after some rather dubious decisions from the last congress, imo.

For many Republicans (not all), the wall is more about spiting liberals or sending a message to minorities that they aren't wanted.  Until we can filter the actual utility of barriers and the real benefits of immigration reform from the racism and vitriol on both sides, I honestly could care less about "the wall" and hope it all falls apart.

I wouldn't have a problem with a wall under the right circumstances but coming from Trump, it's a symbol.  A symbol I will never support.

Trump attacks John McCain over the weekend.  Lindsey Graham is silent.  Tells you all you need to know about the character of  both of them.

Bitchmade. There is no other word I can think of that better describes the situation of a draft dodger talking about a guy who was tortured fighting on behalf of our country and a friend of his remaining silent.

What do you make of this whole thing?

Trump apologists have proven repeatedly that they have no standards and will accept absolutely anything from him. The list is long and continuing......

I mean on the entirety of it. Maybe make a new thread sometime. I’d like to read it.

The most raucous part of Trump's promise that brought on the chants from the MAGAs was -- Mexico is going to pay for it!!! 100%,... 100%,...
