Popular Post heyitsmeallen
The Mutiny has begun. Quote "I’d rather have Marcus calling the shots," Matthews said. "There’s proof in the success when that happens. I’d like to do no-huddle more. I know we’d all like to do it more. We definitely talk about it a lot. Sometimes we go into it a lot. Sometimes we don’t. This game we stayed in it, and I feel like we were pretty good when were in it." Multiple Titans offensive players agreed with the general basis of Matthews' assessment. There also was some agreement with Matthews' saying that the Titans got too conservative on their final offensive possession, particularly on a third-and-2 on which they essentially settled for a go-ahead field goal. Quote The Titans scored three points and accumulated 72 yards on 18 plays in three drives to start the game before they switched to the no-huddle. In the three subsequent drives after they switched primarily to a no-huddle offense, the Titans put up 17 points and gained 225 yards on 32 offensive plays. "That's just something we felt like going in was a good way to attack them," Titans head coach Mike Mularkey said of the success in the no-huddle. "That was part of the game plan." I call Bullshit on Mularkey here. If it was part of the GP why didn’t you run it earlier? mmmmmbeeer, Jonboy, Titanstattoo25, and 24 others 23

TampaTitan
That's great and all, but at the end of the day none of this stuff is going to make a difference because we're the Titans. For whatever reason, things that should matter, and things that should make a difference, just don't here. We'll trot out the same old bullshit this weekend and on into next year and waste another year of our franchise (?) QB's career.
scine09
Remember that drive against the Vikings in the opener last year? They ran the no-huddle and he was calling the plays. And, shocker, they went right down the field and scored. ChesterCopperpot1, and TitansGuru

It’s amazing how much more comfortable he looks out there. Also noticed he’s changed his stance in shotgun from last year. Not sure why that is? Stan17
This definitely gives me more confidence in Marcus and the offense going forward. Yes, Marcus absolutely still needs to work on his mechanics and pocket awareness; but he's not as lost as many of us had previously thought. This is two weeks in a row now that a player has said something or let some verbage slip. The coaches are losing the locker room, we need a change in leadership for next season. Tomachek
We just need a change of philosophy offensively. The condensed formations aren't working, all the presnap adjustments aren't fooling anyone. Spread the field and let Mariota sling it. Two things happen when you spread the field. 1. Harder for defenses to disguise what they are doing. 2. Allows Mariota to make quicker decisions, which is the main reason he is so successful in the red zone and no huddle. luvyablue256
Popular Post cenj
One argument: Mariota is the problem because he looks uncomfortable in the pocket, scatterbrained, inaccurate, indecisive, and turns the ball over constantly. It isn't the coaches or the scheme, because good QBs can make any scheme and any shit play-calling work simply because of their greatness. You could hire any coach and run any scheme, and a good QB will magically develop into a probowler regardless. Alternative argument: QBs are dependent on a system that fits their skillset, and playcalling that matches the offensive personnel. You need a good QB to run a consistent passing offense, and really good QBs can cover up a lot of ills in personnel and playcalling, but QB play is heavily effected by the situation around them, and young QBs need to be developed correctly in order to reach their full potential. Believe it or not, there has been legitimate, intense debate as to which of these arguments makes more sense.
