If Mariota is out, even for a short time, I'd sign him.  What do you have to lose?

You incite riots by angry white people across the country?

If Kaep comes to town and the team wins, business will be just fine.  If Cassel is our starter for the remainder of the season, the team won't draw 30,000 fans. He brought attention to a real issue. That doesn't make him a bad person or a bad teammate. Not sure how good he is as a QB ... but I am certain that virtually everyone is a better QB than Cassel at this point in his career.

and how long would it take Kaep to learn the playbook and get decent timing with his WRs?

That's just ignoring the crippling PR issues...

Exactly, the time to get a better backup was in the off season. I questioned the decision to stick with Cassel then. Bringing in Kaep (who is a better QB than Cassel) at this point would be hard. He'd have no time in the offense...

Kaep doesn't equate to winning games

He would have a better chance with the next few games on our schedule. More so than Cassell anyway.

Is Mariota'a injury tht bad?

Mariota said on sideline he "popped" his hammy.  So I trust him since he said it as soon as it happened.
