Even though they missed out on Carmelo, the addition of future HOFer Chris Paul should make Houston even better than they were last season. He has already shown great chemistry between himself and Harden, hopefully he can reduce Harden's workload on offense to limit the record setting  number of turnovers experienced over the last two seasons. After all, CP3 does have the best assist-to-turnover ratio in NBA history.

All of the players lost from last year's team were involved in the trade. Obviously Paul will be an upgrade over Beverley, although both of them are excellent defenders. Most NBA teams like to have two PG's on the court at the same time, especially late in the game. The Rockets will have the luxury of having two PG's on the court almost half the time, which should open up a lot of possibilities for their offense.

Beverley's energy will be missed, and Harrell brought a similar spark to the 2nd unit as well. And even though Lou was a big scoring threat coming off the bench, the defense suffered horribly when he was on the court. PJ Tucker will replace him in the rotation, even though he's a forward. There will be a noticeable drop off on offense, but Tucker is an extremely versatile defender much like Ariza. Mbah a Moute will also give them another good defender in the 2nd unit, and both of them are also decent 3-point shooters as well. They will still have Gordon and Nene to lead the second unit then either Paul or Harden will be there at PG. Black will replace Harrell as the 3rd center, while Zhou Qi replaces Wiltjer.

Qi should be the best Chinese player the NBA has seen since Yao Ming, even better than Jeremy Lin. He's still a very raw prospect, and thin as a rail, who probably won't play much this season except in the G-League. He could take Mbah a Moute's spot on the roster after this season as a backup PF who can also play C. His 3-point shooting and shot-blocking will be a perfect fit with this team once he can build some more muscle on his 7'2" frame.

They should try to keep Ariza who is having perhaps the best season of his career. Chris Paul could do what Durant did with Golden State by taking a slight pay cut to help the team re-sign both Capela and Ariza. That would keep the current starting 5 intact (Paul, Harden, Ariza, Tucker, and Capela) and they still have Gordon, Anderson, and Nene under contract as well. They should have an easy time re-signing Green to a modest contract. Mbah a Moute will probably require a bigger deal to come back, so he might be tougher to keep. Joe Johnson should retire.

Of course there haven't been a lot of successful players from China. But my point was even though he will almost certainly never be as good as Yao, this dude you can't wait to see will probably have a better NBA career than most of those guys on the Lakers roster you think will be turning things around for one of the worst pro teams in the country over the last few years.

If he is that good why will he be in the GLeague?

Probably because the Rockets are such a deep team they have the luxury of allowing him to develop and more importantly bulk up his slim frame. They signed Mbah a Moute to a 1-year deal, he will probably get a multi-year contract from some desperate team like the Lakers next offseason. Zhou Qi should be an excellent replacement for him next year since they will be too busy re-signing CP3, Capela, and Ariza to worry about keeping Mbah a Moute or Tarik Black.

We will be back. Believe it. And when we get there, our next run will last longer and bring much more success than anything Harden will have done for the Rockets.

Of course most of us won't be around to see the Lakers finally turn things around in 2063.

Don't forget that that so called deep team is currently harboring 2 ex Lakers and you also used one to get CP3.

Both Ariza and Black will be free agents next summer and will be far more likely to accept less money to re-sign with the Rockets than to take inflated deals with the Lakers who have to overpay free agents in order to sign with them. And obviously giving away Williams in the CP3 deal was a no-brainer. The only valuable player the Clippers got in the deal was Beverley, who is a major downgrade from Paul.

And this "so-called" deep team has seven players all capable of averaging double-digits this season: Harden, CP3, Gordon, Anderson, Capela, Ariza, and Nene. Considering their offense is capable of averaging around 115-120 PPG or more, all 7 of them could very well do so since Mbah a Moute, Tucker, and Black will be primarily used for their defensive skills.

They can't even win at home when CP3 only scores 4 points. Go ahead, keep hating on the Rockets who should be no worse than the #2 team in the NBA after Hayward's injury.

I don't see that.   Cleveland is still better.   We'll see about the Spurs and Thunder.

You sound exactly like Charles Barkley. Do you consider him the ultimate authority on the NBA?

With Paul playing on a bum leg during that game, obviously that would be the case. But now that he's had 14 games to recover, during which time they were 10-4 without him, the Rockets are playing as well as anyone in the NBA right now, including the Celtics with their 16-game winning streak snapped. Houston is just 1.5 games behind Boston for the best record in the league, and after beating their most recent opponents soundly now have the best point differential in the NBA.

They're currently a half game from the eighth seed when no one thinks they have a chance at the playoffs. In the ultra competitive west. Should tell your ignorant ass something...

They play the Rockets and Golden State three times each in December plus the last game of November. They're already 0-2 in that stretch of 15 games, they will be lucky to end up 3-12 by the end of it.
