9 Nines
Senator Murphy wrote this article to inform the public that the Trump Administration is building up ground troops in Syria with plans to invade the stronghold of ISIS. It is not getting much, if any, attention in the media, so he is mainly writing to inform the public: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/trump-is-dragging-us-into-another-warand-no-one_us_58d5d3f5e4b0f633072b37db Quietly, while Americans have been focused on the ongoing drama over repealing the Affordable Care Act and the new revelations about the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia, President Donald Trump has been busy dramatically expanding the American troop presence inside Syria. Without any official notification, Trump sent 500 new American troops into Syria, ostensibly to take part in the upcoming assault on the so-called Islamic State’s stronghold of Raqqa. News reports suggest this deployment may just be the tip of the iceberg, with some saying that the plan is for hundreds more American troops to be added to the fight in the coming weeks. No one actually knows how many troops are inside Syria now, because the administration has largely tried to keep the build-up a secret.

Mythos27
Hmmm, seems he's banking on a big military win being enough to bring him out of the popularity tail-spin he's in. It's a good chance to take. I don't like the idea of escalating this conflict but this may prove an effective gamble for him. The down side is minimal because despite what they tell you, most people don't actually care about soldiers dying needlessly. earlers

The Chattanooga police force has 500 officers. This ISIS problem must not be very large. MamlngEnvy, and Opus74
Titans279
It's 500 now. Wait and it'll grow. Vietnam didn't start as a ton of troops either. Can't wait for our Gulf of Tonkin incident to draw us into an all out war. Also the deployments won't be public knowledge!
No1TitansFan
The notion that either Trump or Obama is calling the shots other than signing off on military strategy proposed by the commander is ridiculous. Obama, actually was honest about it, he said upfront that it was going to be a long process that would involve predominately coalition forces. 500 isn't that big of a number and I doubt Trump had anything to do with determining it. This is true but I could also see military personnel making more aggressive recommendations knowing that Trump is more likely to sign off than Obama given his past rhetoric. reo
Assad is protecting Russia's only base in the Mediterranean. Assad goes down, they lose it. And for that reason Trump will do nothing against Assad. Starkiller
Number9
djt is making very degrading statements about President Obama's administration. "I inherited a mess" WTF did Obama inherit? A domestic and international economic crisis. He says everything is a mess and he is going to fix every thing. All of it. So far, all he has done is create messes. It wouldn't surprise me that Obama's high approval ratings really irritates Trump and all of his Obama bashing is simply to chip away at Obama's approval ratings. earlers
It's a ratings grab. Sure fire way to approve ratings is to go to war. We're screwed because our military aren't prepared for a chemical war. Btowner
