Popular Post Jonboy
REUBEN FOSTER, LB, Alabama 6'1, 236 lbs, Senior Round Projection: 1st Stats 2016- 115 tackles, 13 TFL, 5 sacks, 0 INT, 0 FF 2015- 48 tackles, 8 TFL, 1 sack, 0 INT, 0 FF 2014- 23 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 sack, 0 INT, 0 FF http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/reuben-foster-1.html Who is Reuben Foster? Despite the buzz, Foster had to wait his turn before seeing the field, only emerging as a full-time starter as a junior. While waiting for his turn at linebacker, Foster developed a reputation as a fierce hitter on special teams coverage units, registering 12 tackles as a true freshman in 2013 and 22 stops (including two for loss and a sack) as a sophomore before enjoying his breakout campaign at WILL linebacker in 2015. ... Foster is a true lights-out hitter, generating bone-rattling hits due to his acceleration and compact frame. He launches himself into ballcarriers, typically wrapping his arms securely, as well, for the flashy but efficient take-down. Foster shows acute diagnosis skills. He takes sharp angles to the ball, often beating blockers to the action and surprising ballcarriers with his closing speed. Foster keeps his eyes locked onto the quarterback when in coverage, breaking quickly as the pass is released, often initiating contact with the intended receiver just as the ball arrives. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/2082714/reuben-foster The play below against USC is a good example of how good he is, with his reactions off the snap so quick on the run blitz that the USC guard didn’t have much hope of preventing. When you combine his quickness and reaction time with his ability as a sure tackler, it’s not surprising that he grades as well as he does against the run. Every year we see great linebackers against the run in college football, but what makes the difference between a great college linebacker and one with top pro prospects is how they perform in coverage. That’s why Reuben Foster looks like a future first-round draft pick, and potentially a very high one too. Foster has made seven solo tackles on receivers so far this year, with all seven resulting in a defensive stop. ... Foster has proven so far this season that he’s not just a good linebacker, but an elite one, and one of the best players on an incredibly talented Alabama team. The fact that he simply doesn’t make a lot of mistakes, but forces several big plays before and beyond the line of scrimmage in every game, be it in coverage, against the run or as a pass rusher, highlights why he will likely have a long career playing on Sunday’s too. https://www.profootballfocus.com/college-football-reuben-foster-is-the-best-most-complete-lb-alabama-crimson-tide/ Cutups vs USC http://draftbreakdown.com/video/reuben-foster-vs-usc-2016-2/ vs Tennessee http://draftbreakdown.com/video/reuben-foster-vs-tennessee-2016/ vs Texas A&M http://draftbreakdown.com/video/reuben-foster-vs-texas-am-2016/ Highlights Justafan, Omar, TeamBass, and 3 others
SleepingTitan
Would you spend a 5? Would you take one of the 2 safeties at 5, trade up from 18 to 10 to get him? We are in an interesting spot.
Huston
Would take him over any safety, big question may end up Foster or Allen.

He is special. kgsTitan, Omar, and Karkosa
Supdawg
He reminds me of Ray Lewis.... off the charts instincts. AvgJoe, and kgsTitan
AvgJoe
And I would like to add this, name one player on the defensive side that out hustled and outplayed Foster on Monday Night. Anderson and the Clemson kid #42 had good games, but Foster had so many impact plays and was always around the ball.

He almost took out Williams, no call. He also got a shoestring tackle to save a return td.
THE_TITAN
I like him, but I think his draft range will be where we are not going to have a pick (barring a trade), say the 7-12 range. I like his game but I don't think he will be one of the top 5 players on our board. Edited January 11, 2017 by THE_TITAN
freakingeek
He would make our defense better instantly. That's why I hope we can address CB and WR through free agency. Go BPA on defense in the draft. OILERMAN
Starkiller
Foster looks like a great ILB and I'd love to add him. But for what it's worth, his type of LB doesn't ever go at #5. Pass rushers go at 5. Dominant physical freaks go at 5. Now, he could be the next great ILB. Maybe he is going to be the next Brian Urlacher or Ray Lewis (but smaller). Or the next Zach Thomas (who was drafted in the 5th round). But I don't know if he goes 5th overall. http://www.drafthistory.com/index.php/positions/lb Edited January 11, 2017 by Starkiller Jonboy, Soxcat, and Cajuntitan

Why let a few spots stop you when if there aren't any other players that would make they big of an impact for you. You don't let it stop you - it's just draft geek talk to let a few placements outside of perceived value ranges stop you. I guess the point is at 5 he's not likely to be at the top of the draft board due to his position. But if the Titans are dead set on defense and there is a run on defenders 1-4 he easily could be. Probably better off looking at where he ranks on the defensive draft board. Huston

This is something I've been thinking about lately, the last traditional LBer to go this high was Aaron Curry, teams take corners & pass rushers here. Dont get me wrong, I love the kid & hope he's the pick, but I wonder if we may try to move down a bit is possible. I also wonder if Derrick Barnettay be an option.
