The only thing the Reps don't now have is a supermajority, but they do have more governors and state legislatives. I think I saw somewhere that there are like 24 Democrat Senate seats up for grabs in 2018. So there very well may be a 60 plus Republican Senate after that election. It's definitely possible considering we keep sending the establishment back despite their inability or unwillingness to do anything.

This economy sucks for most people. There's a reason why ins coverage was extended to allow parent's covering their 26 Y/Os. Obama knew it sucked then and knows it still sucks now. And is still fighting for it. Because he knows 90% of all kids 19-25 have damned few, or no job prospects in his economy. But nobody asked for the day off after he got elected. Nobody was in mourning. Nobody said they couldn't take a test over it. Nobody was so crippled by fear they couldn't function. And if they had been no one would have cared, and no one would have constructed them a "safe space" and devoted resources to console them over election results. Seriously? And that protest article link you posted was from almost 9 months after obama took office. And the writer mis-characterizes the ire anyway. What the TEA Party were pissed about then (yes I was an early Tea Partier) was the notion and the expense of the bailout and the stimulus spending. And it started months before Obama took office. But I was gone by the time that protest rolled around, and the TP was only a portion of that protest. Besides, what took place that the article writer misses, is that was the 9/12 project of Glenn Beck's. It was far more than an "Obama protest" both in concept and execution. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9-12_Project I didn't despise Obama. Never. But I had no use for Paulson, Geithner and their cronies that held the governments of both Bush and Obama and our congress hostage. And I didn't go out and march in the streets, or burn and destroy over his election. Nobody did. If that's what you believe, sorry, but that's revisionist history. And that protest? When it was over no windows were broken, no monuments defaced, no graffiti. Hell, there wasn't even much litter. Those people cleaned up after themselves. The people that assembled in DC that day loved this country, they weren't trying to tear it apart by calling the voters that elected Obama racists and misogynists, and xenophobes, and sexists and morons. It was the very definition of a peaceable assembly. Even if they weren't happy with Obama, nobody turned it against his voters. It was designed to capture the spirit we all shared the day after the 9/11 attacks, when we were united in spirit and in love of country. Hence the name, and the date it was held. And if that's what you want to call "crawling in the gutter" then I think you're the misguided one here. Again with the Republicans are perfect the liberals are the devil argument. It just rings hollow after 8 years of having the hatred shoved down our throats. No amount of revisionist history will change the truth. Glen Beck? The model of patriotism and love for country? Lol. More like political hack and professional conspiracy theorist.

But equating what went on at 9/12 with what is happening now is so far out in left field it's not even close.

And a lot of it is their fault. Look, SK makes some solid points, the conservative machine has most definitely preached some hateful, divisive vitriol. And the growing emergence of the alt right, especially the ones with white nationalistic leanings, is concerning. But the left has been overly preachy at best, and absolutely unaccepting & vicious at the worst. I can't tell you how many arguments I've had where the response is "shut up you're wrong". They border on anti 1st amendment at times. The left is freaking out right now but this is just how things go. There's a resetting every 8-12 years. I just hope this shit Im reading about guys like Keith Ellison moving up in the party isn't true. Justafan

The majority of voters just want jobs and worry about their money they don't give a shit about anything else. Liberalism doesn't focus enough on jobs, actually it focuses on who has jobs that has to pay for somebody else that doesn't work or make enough as they do, we'll thats how most people view that, and if that's the case this election put the nail in the coffin for future liberal presidents. Then they start talking about how they have to burn everything down & form a new identity. It's so stupid. The election was very close, it was 2 flawed candidates. To be honest who knows why Trump won, there's a million different explanations. I think it could be as simple as he outworked her. But there's no reason to burn it down & start over. A guy like Keith Ellison is just going to make white people feel like the party really doesn't care about them. They need to accept their loss, look at what they did wrong in a pragmatic way, and start building up a guy like Booker, who I think would be a great candidate. oldschool

Legaltitan
Yeah I know. I just found it hard to believe that 24 out of 33 were Democrat. Looks like 23 are so I stand corrected. Edited November 13, 2016 by Legaltitan
