I've survived without cloud saves for most of my gaming life. It's a nice feature, but not worth the price in my opinion. Nintendo also said that they can't guarantee that your cloud saves will be safe in the event you let your subscription run out. I don't play online often enough to warrant paying for the service in that regard either. The NES games, while a nice feature, are games that I've either got access to on my NES Classic or I'm just not interested in anyway. Playing some of them online is about the only redeeming quality of said feature. If and when they introduce SNES/N64/GameCube games to the service, then I'll jump in head 1st. Until then, I just don't see the value. All fair points. And I’m in the same boat with the cloud and the online. I only play mario kart with my brother who’s in Aussie and he’s not getting it so there isn’t much point. Maybe when Pokémon let’s go comes out or Smash I’ll get into it
Smokes
My main reason to pay for the online is the save backups the only online game I play on the Switch is Mario kart with nothing down the line that is online that interests me outside of a possible Metroid multi player. If I could backup my saves to a SD even a proprietary over priced Nintendo SD I would probably not have signed up. The classics are cool and played them as a small child at friends houses as I had the Sega Master System and then the Genesis. My biggest gripe with the classics is I can't play with randoms as the only person I know that will have a Switch will be my sister when I get her one for Christmas, and not being able to just buy one of the NES pads is lame. Jamalisms
I got it for save backups, plus I do play Splatoon and other games, plus playing classic games is fun ... as I haven't done that a ton.

Damn, that pretty much checks every single box on what the online offers. I might do it just because $20 a year is nothing, but that'd probably be literally just throwing money away. Jamalisms
Single player mode looks actively interesting. Can't believe there are ~75 characters to play... ~80 if you buy the DLC. heyitsmeallen

wiscotitansfan
That for sure appeals to my completionist personality of games... I was going to hold off since I don’t like online play for games really but it seems like there’s more than enough content to keep me interested

wiscotitansfan
Pokemon comes out this week and Smash in a month... Honestly, these two games (since haven't played the last couple smash games) are the ones that I have been looking forward to the most since the Zelda and Odyssey Edited November 14, 2018 by wiscotitansfan
Stranger
We've got the Pikachu version coming in the mail tomorrow. I also wanted to get Civilization VI but the wife vetoed that idea and said I'd have to wait until Christmas. I've got RDR2 to hold me over until then though. Any of the Mega Man games are really good but probably a bit too young for that. Mario Tennis has been quite the disappointment.
Jamalisms
Mario Party could be good. Haven't played it but I always enjoyed those games.
