Which isn't exactly a bad thing--I hate Peyton Manning. It doesn't come from any real place--just that he was out opponent and I find Vols fans annoying. You won't see me saying the kind of shit a lot of people do about Cam, things they truly believe. 

 

I don't really care if you see a basis for it.  Am I not entitled to my opinion of someone's character based upon my own observations and what I know about the person?

I see a guy who stole a laptop and was more than likely involved in a scam where his father received a bunch of money in violation of NCAA rules.  Staying clean for a few years since being drafted does not mean he is all of a sudden a better (or changed) person.  It just means he's smart enough to stay out of trouble given the damage another incident would do to his current paycheck and long term earning potential.  I give him some credit for staying clean since he was drafted but that alone isn't going to change my perception of him.

It's not just the content of what he says, but how he says it.  It appears disingenuous to me.  I don't think he really believes some of the stuff he says and it's just fluff.  Lots of guys do it, not just Cam.

I haven't seen any other QB's meet with Mac's son.  But i'm not in Nashville so I have no idea who else has done it.  What I do see around here is Rivers doing things like that.  Just last night, I heard Tom Brady on the radio talking about a boy he recently met with.  I see tons of other players doing more meaningful stuff than this on a weekly basis.  I would be willing to bet more than 75% of the players in the league do nice things for kids and charities.  Cam meets with one kid for a few seconds on the field on his way to start a game and I'm supposed to think that's special and makes him a good guy?  LOL

I still laugh at people saying that JJ Watt is the ideal role model.. I wish him and Cam were on the same team. That'd be too much fun.

I agree with Bink obviously. People don't realize that Cam is likely a front runner for Walter Payton Man of the Year. He really understands what he meansays to kids and I think a lot of what he does is with them in mind in terms of having fun. Even after the Titans game, he walked around the stadium giving high fives, gave his gear including his cleats.  He's a really good dude who is 100% himself. I don't see how people hate his genuineness but to each his own.

No one is saying Cam isn't 100% himself.

It's not that I don't see where people are forming these opinions from or the reasoning behind it. I just think it's bullshit to be honest--and that's fine, it ultimately doesn't matter.

We just don't hear about that as much because Mett isn't celebrating every first down and doing end zone celebrations every week in everyone's face.

It's an intentional generalization. I'm generalizing what I hear about Cam versus other players. I only use the Mett example because of how much he is talked about here.

 

Regardless, a lot of the anti-Cam sentiment has actually made me like him more. The Panthers are a fun to watch team, with a pretty unique style.

I like watching the Panthers as well.  Cam is a good player.  I'm probably different than most though in being able to separate play on the field from other things.
