  1. Yeah, I'll take the not very flashy but pro-ready LT, thank you very much. They are across the board on all the other tackles. There will be some good ones, but it's becoming clear that there aren't several complete, pro-ready, pass-protecting LTs this draft.
  2. This will be the easiest year Carthon ever has as GM. It was the same for JRob when he traded away a top 5 pick and got all their draft capital. Even then, I criticized JRrob because you could already see his positional valuations were archaic, and he didn't get as much out of the Titans ideal positioning as he could have. It's not just about this year and this roster. We're not going to be able to buy up all the positions we need every year, and if we're successful, we're going to have to deal with late round draft picks, QB money, and FAs wanting to get paid elsewhere. So we have to build through the draft. It can't just be rounds 1 and 2. Carthon is going to have to find quality players later on, and we're going to have to develop guys who can take over as starters for aging players/FAs.
  3. It's hard to complain; they are spending money and bringing in some real talent for a change. This is the most exciting offseason in years, and I'm genuinely excited to see how the pieces fit. I'm still not a huge fan of the RB money, but that's a philosophical issue and not an indictment on the player. I still think it's a lot of money for a RBBC guy. It's not my money, so spend it if AAS is willing, but it would be a shame to lose out on another high-level talent as a result. The Ridley move was especially great. Screwing over the Jags last minute and messing up their WR room while simultaneously overhauling our WR room with a complete WR...
  4. I would very much like all these mini-wars to stop; it seems like we've had thread after thread derailed the last few weeks during the offseason. However... I do recognize that if posters are particularly condescending, calling everyone idiots and crowing about winning on a forum, then they are going to get called out. It's hard to tell someone to "get over it" when other posters have been (and will continue) deriding them. I've said this repeatedly over the years that some of our most prolific posters are the ones that create this culture. It's like when an opposing player is constantly taking cheap shots, and then our player finally reacts and gets a flag. Yeah, he shouldn't react, but the bigger problem is the guy who keeps being allowed to take cheap shots.
  5. If they still go LT and WR in the first two rounds, Carthon will have totally transformed the offense in 1 off-season. Every positional group will be dramatically upgraded except TE. Outside of another OL and a blocking TE, there wouldn't be much else to do.
  6. We still have to draft a WR high; with this much talent, I hope they grab a couple. DHop was better than anyone expected last year, but he's gonna hit a wall sooner than later. Ridley is almost 30 and really should become a great #2. We need to develop talent to take over as our #1 in a year or two. It's already a way better receiving group than last year, especially when you factor in the RB group.
  7. I'm personally of the opinion they allocate as much as they can against this year's cap. If we hit on Levis, then year 3 and 4 will be huge. That's when we'll want to load the rosters for a playoff push, and the less dead money the better. And after that, you have to pay dumb starter QB money, so you don't want additional void years hurting you if you can help it.
  8. Sounds like he wants big money but knows he can't get it on a multi-year deal. He's not going to sign a meh 2 year deal. His best financial option is to take the best 1-year deal (ideally on a team with a good DL) so that he can ball out. Parlay that into a multi-year massive contract where he can go back to being lazy. So this next year might be the best year to have Young. The risk you take is if he feels he's made enough money and just wants the biggest 1-year payout he can find. But there's value there with the potential comp pick. Ran will definitely know how the 49ers view him, so I'd feel good about it if Ran signs him.
  9. There's a difference in taking calculated risks and just being dumb and reckless. The risks with Young are multiple; it ties up money that could go to other players, it could likely waste snaps that could go to other emerging talent, and it could result in more dead money for 2025 and beyond (limiting our ability to get FAs). That's why Beasley was such a bad signing; it caused these issues AND it was totally predictable. Atlanta had terrible things to say about him. Now you have two franchises who have had him in house and want no part of him. I'm willing to keep an open mind, but I can't think of players who've been so passionless on the field just suddenly find fire and start living up to their potential.
  10. There was an assumed personal connection between Russini and Vrabel on here for a long time; he seemed to be her source on stuff, and sometimes it came across like she was telling the Vrabel-spun version of things. But if that was true, there was definitely a falling out this last year. I get the sense that Russini is pretty shrewd and was willing to use Vrabel when things were rosy, but she likely built a stable of connections here too. When Vrabel's seat started getting warmer and her journalistic duty required her to report more on problems, she did her job and probably irritated Vrabel. The first weird bit I noticed was during the draft; she was on the ground reporting on Carthon/Vrabel, and she's one who mentioned them going up to get a QB. I thought it was a purposeful smokescreen at the time, one fed to her by Vrabel, but that wasn't true -- she got wind of their draft plans, reported on it, and kinda made Carthon and Vrabel look incompetent. She also mentioned the bit about his intimidation factor. On a recent podcast, when asked if a coach had gotten mad about her reports, she freely and immediately used Vrabel as her example. He called her and was pissed that her report got twisted by an news aggregate; apparently it said he wasn't being hired because he was overweight (by the way, Vrabel keeps proving how whiny and pissy he is -- dude can't handle criticism). On another news report, when they said Vrabel would get a job next coaching session, she made a slight comment like, "I'm not so sure about that." I can't remember her words exactly, but that was the sentiment. There have been other examples like those. But now she's still reporting on the Titans and seems to have totally moved past Vrabel. So I don't think Vrabel was using her; I think she used him. Smartest guy in the room, right?

  12. I was reading an article on Pollard's usage, and it basically detailed how he isn't a bell cow (but Dallas tried to make him one). They had some stats showing how much his explosiveness went down after too many snaps, and how his former coach wanted him more on a pitch count. Dallas also didn't use him enough as a receiver last year -- despite a ton more snaps, he only had a few more receptions. I didn't watch Dallas much (or Pollard last year), but reports seem to say he started to regain more explosiveness towards the end of the year and was clearly not his old self early on (due to his leg injuries). Reading the tea leaves, my guess is that he'll firmly be in a RBBC with Spears to limit his usage and keep him explosive, and he'll be utilized as a receiver way more.
  13. What are some of you smoking? 24M/3yr is a ton of money invested into the position if he gets a significant portion guaranteed -- especially when we just spent a 3rd on Spears. I'm going to hold out hope that the numbers are agent-speak and that his guaranteed money is tiny.
  14. For fun... ------ ----------- ------------ --------- --------- Alt Skoronski Cushenberry Radunz Onwenu Would be a massive upgrade in 1 offseason.
  15. Good sign -- it means the Titans new staff have similar feelings towards Brewer as the fans. It's also funny because Cushenberry is the opposite of Brewer -- a long armed, great pass-blocker who handles the bull rush well, but who isn't as good run blocking in space.
  16. Roster is terrible as it stands, but we also have a ton of remaining FA money, which makes it a little misleading. We do potentially have an excellent core to rebuild with. DT (Simmons) is about as good as you can get. Landry healed and rebounded later in the year. So defensively, you have a top notch DT and DE. Autry isn't on the books, but he's still damn good and should be re-signed. Offensively, you have a cheap dynamic RB, cheap future QB, and 1 excellent WR. Draft Alt at #7 and this team would have settled the QB, LT, DT, DE positions which may be the 4 hardest to fill with playmaker. That's before any FA money or additional draft picks. They are going to come away with a good WR prospect somewhere in the draft, and they're going to sign several starters in FA. It won't make it a top roster, but if Levis is the real deal, it could be an excellent base.
  17. I think everyone agrees Dillard sucked, and even Carthon said a few weeks ago that Dillard didn't play well. Still, I wouldn't complain if they decided he was worth keeping. They saw him all year, and if Carthon and Callahan still think he can be salvaged with better coaching, good luck. I don't trust any evaluations under Vrabel and his BS staff and will keep an open mind.
  18. Look, I get being critical of rumors, but this is pretty solid info. Henry was recorded discussing his feelings that he was almost gone, mentioning details about a near trade (while clearly holding back some details from the audience). I mean sure, he could be lying, but that's not a rational take. Henry has no reason to lie there and the team doesn't benefit from lying to Henry by telling him they were gonna trade him, only to kill the deal last minute ("Hey, we don't value you and are gonna move on. Oops, j/k, we still love you!). The details are probably not quite right, and it may not have been the Ravens interested, but it's highly probable the Titans were looking to trade Henry mid-season and that someone was interested.
  19. That's why I was laughing at that truck meme. National image of Henry is that he's some giant running over people, but he's a finesse runner now. Last season reminded me of Eddie's Last couple years when he was so slow to the hole and would get tripped up by the slightest hand. At first, I thought we just needed to block a half second longer and that he was unluckily being tripped. But as the season went on, it was obvious he was just slow and couldn't stay upright through contact. Then Chris Brown came in and looked like a future probowler behind the same OL.
  20. There's really no reason for the Titans not to sign a quality C in free agency now. Several available.
  21. I'm not confident of whether Titams players are bad or just poorly developed and coached. Vrabel put a lot of people in terrible positions and then blamed them. In general, having a good D helps in a QB's development because they don't have to go out there and score every series. That let's them be able to throw it away, or take a check down, instead of holding onto the ball and getting injured (or throwing crazy interceptions). But I do think the primary focus should be on installing Callahan's offense. Yes, that means supporting Levis, but it also means getting everyone else on offense se understanding what to do. Levis may or may not be the guy. But if the defense does suck and we do little to nothing to get more talent, than we're gonna lose more games than we win. It's totally unrealistic to think that the offense will be some top 5-10 unit that can win in spite of a bottom of the barrel defense.
