We say that every week regarding the OLB rotation. It’s clearly a philosophical thing and isnt likely to change unfortunately.

Borders play has essentially made the outside CB play issues go away. Big props to him developing through the season and building one game on top of another to the point now where we really don’t even have to worry about him. The bigger concerns are in the middle of the field and work vs TEs/RBs especially with Brown now out for the season.

As of now I think when (if) Adoree comes back, you use him as more of a matchup weapon. Leave Butler and Borders outside as they have been playing well. Later in the game today they used King vs. the  Ravens TE and I could see them doing more of that as well. They could also do something similar with Fulton as well.

Kalu was completely lost on that 3rd and 13 play to Andrews over the middle. It was a terrible defensive play design, but that’s besides the point.

Landry played essentially every defensive snap again. Simmons also played on nearly 90% of the defensive plays as well.

Tuzar Skipper played only 1 defensive snap so the OLB depth and play needs to be evaluated moving forward. Thankfully Landry is holding up, but you gotta think he Roberson were gassed at times yesterday.

Was not stoked to see Kalu out there but hopefully that is just a 1 game scenario for now and Vaccaro is back next week vs. the Colts.

And just so people are aware, Greg Mabin has also been in the NFL for 4 years.

He's played for Tampa, Buffalo, San Francisco, Cincinnati, and now Tennessee.

As for Borders, he's more like a Khalif Raymond or Jeremy McNichols or Jamil Douglas type find than a Cortland Finnegan.

    Yes. This.

It's why I want top notch corners at all three spots with great depth. Borders is a guy that gives you good depth as a 4th or 5th corner.

Borders has been in the NFL for four years now man. He's played for Oakland, Buffalo, Houston, Jacksonville, Washington, Pittsburgh, Miami, and now Tennessee.

He's one of those bottom of the depth chart type journeymen.

He's proven to be a great depth piece for sure.

I remember for a stretch under Mularkey - Tye Smith had a similar run of good play, so we need to see more before getting too caught up about Borders.

Robinson has been good about finding depth corners that can play NFL ball (Borders, Mabin, Tye Smith, Sims, Durden) - we haven't had to deal with any Ryan Moutons or Ittersagens or whatever on his watch haha. Other than Jonathan Joseph of course, which was a huge mistake.

Someone mentioned recently that they thought the coaching staff got too involved in personnel and influenced some bad decisions this offseason. I think there's probably some degree of truth to this, and I hope JRob learns from it.

Momentum is a real thing. His break up on the first pass was a big play. If he doesn’t get his hand on the ball Brown is off to the races.

At least this should force the Titans to put a safety on them, unlike last time when Hines was taking Jayon Brown to the woodshed.

I wonder if JRob’s comment about Vrabel playing the same position as Beasley & teaching him a bit might be a hint of this. I’ve had a feeling that VB was a guy Vrabel wanted since it happened. Like everyone’s said, the signing just felt odd from the start, just not a typical Robinson guy. JRob is willing to give guys who have had some character issues a shot, but never loafers.

I think Vrabel loved VB’s physical talent. He scouted the LB’s & pass rushers for the Texans in 2015 & Personally worked out the prospects. He probably thought he could do something with him. In a way I get it.  VB has insane traits.

If everyone is healthy, Borders becomes the dime back at best (him vs Fulton).

But Borders has been an excellent addition. A huge step up over old man Joseph.
