  1. Man, I really waffle on signing Higgins. I stand on not thinking he’s a true #1, but it could make sense moving away from Hopkins in 2025. For one, as productive as he was last season, Hopkins was wayyyy over targeted. Having a reliable siphon would likely lead to more effective production for the overall passing game, and alleviates anxiety and dependence on developing a top rookie immediately, whether it’s a Nabers/Odunze or Franklin/Mitchell. I fucking hate thinking about it. I wouldn’t want to pay Higgins more than - this sucks - $18-22M. And if you did have Hopkins/Higgins/Nabers or Odunze, then probably WOW. And we can still draft a LT in the 2nd and sign a guy in FA like Tyron Smith or Trent Williams and draft Patrick Paul or someone who fell out of round one. Just one of the many scenario thoughts I have to have every day until the fricking draft.
  2. This is a guy I absolutely didn’t want, much like Will Levis. Now, I think he would actually be a nice WR 3/4. Good candidate for one of those guys who could do even more in a pass first offense. Kind of add that makes sense if they sign Tee Higgins, and you can rotate him and see if he can overtake Philips and Burks. Mocks had him available in 3-4, but it feels more like 2-3 now. If they got an OT at 7 then traded out of 38 for a later 2 and a 3, then maybe if Ran still wanted someone Flowers-esque, say, as an alternative to a Worthy or McConkey type.
  3. Tahj Washington is a guy I wouldn’t mind talking on day 3. Great speed and separation, and ranked like 4th on the contested catchers list IIRC. Never had less than 43/619 at USC. Value as a returner. Makes me think of a more promising Khalif Raymond.
  4. Fun read on Bowers. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10091024-brock-bowers-nfl-draft-2024-scouting-report-for-georgia-te “POSITIVES — Great long speed. Threat to take one all the way every time he touches the ball. — Elite explosiveness. Short-area burst as a ball-carrier is special. — Great balance and play strength in the passing game. — Elite ball skills. Consistent hands and plays with excellent focus in traffic over the middle. — Rare YAC threat from the TE position. Special blend of speed, balance, and vision. NEGATIVES — A little undersized by true Y tight end standards. — Average strength as a run blocker. 2023 STATISTICS — 10 G, 56 REC, 714 YDS (12.8 AVG), 6 TD; 6 ATT, 28 YDS (4.7 AVG), 1 TD Watch more top videos, highlights, and B/R original content NOTES — Born Dec. 13, 2002 — 4-star recruit in 2021 class, per 247Sports — Three-year starter — 2023 Unanimous All-American, '22 first-team All-American, '21 second-team All-American — 2022 and '23 John Mackey Award winner OVERALL Brock Bowers is a rare, explosive play threat from the tight end position. Anytime he touches the ball, he could go for a house call. Bowers has exceptional burst and speed. He tears away from most defenders once he gets the angle on them, and he rarely gets caught from behind. Being a little lighter at 240 pounds certainly helps, but he can explode even compared to other guys his size. It's not just speed, though. Bowers also has rare vision and balance for a tight end. He's a natural at weaving through the second and third level of the defense, and he's more than strong enough to bounce tacklers off. Bowers is a complete ball-carrier with rare potential to generate explosive plays. Bowers is excellent before the catch as well. Though he's a quality route-runner overall, Bowers is at his best on routes that exploit his athletic tools. Seam routes, slide routes in the flat, crossing routes; anything to get him moving across the field is a good bet. At the catch point, Bowers is a menace. He does a good job of boxing people out for his size. He also has calm eyes and hands when it comes to seeing the ball in while playing in traffic. Circus catches are on the menu, too. Bowers has special dexterity and flexibility when it comes to adjusting to the football. As a blocker, Bowers' frame alone limits his potential, but he's feisty. Bowers works his tail off in the run game. Bigger, stronger ends can still overwhelm him, but he makes them work for it. Bowers is far more useful as an on-the-move blocker out in space or at the second level. Bowers isn't exactly built like a traditional Y tight end, but that's OK. Everything he offers athletically more than makes up for lack of ideal size. Bowers is a truly special player with the ball in his hands who can instantly transform any passing game. 5. I think Bowers would be a perennial 1000 yard 10 TD receiver in TN. Pretty safely so at that. I’m not sure Chig ever does. I love him, but so what? If I could nab Bowers in a trade down to get an extra day 2 pick? To, if they’ve missed out on Alt/Fashanu and Nabers/Odunze, take the last blue chip player and pass catcher, be able to add a LT like Paul or Suamataia or Mims maybe, plus maybe a Jackson Powers-Johnson, or Darius Robinson or Kamari Lassiter or Troy Franklin etc.? I mean, we need starters. The idea with Bowers is he’s the last and best, maybe even better guy standing, and maybe you can come away with him and extra capital because of positional value. You can literally line him up from way out wide to all the way down the line. I just think a player like him will pay dividends immediately, especially in a new offense that will build around players’ strengths. I’m just saying it’s not the worst thing to do if Callaran are gambling on an offensive chess piece match up nightmare. Wait, you all remember we DO suck on third down conversions, right? And for the record, the way I want it to go down is Joe Alt with a side of JPJ. Deal with everything else later. I’d be fine if they went with a wideout like Tahj Washington on day 3 for example, if it means fixing the OL.
  6. I think my hold back with Tee is paying him #1 money when he’s really a #2 receiver. Maybe that’s what they do and so be it if so, but it may not work out well. If they did, I would hope they still draft a WR or two depending on whomever they release.
  7. Tee’s injury is worrisome for the money he’s going to get. Also looks like the Jags may want to reunite Higgins and Lawrence according to this. Ridley is mentioned here as coming to camp underweight and blew a bunch of assignments throughout the season. https://www.bigcatcountry.com/2024/2/1/24056995/jaguars-news-rumors-frustration-with-calvin-ridley
  8. On Bowers, I’ll just say, that guy is a weapon. You know he is a pass catcher extraordinaire. He’s an above average blocker as well. He is a piece to help you disguise your intentions. He can be lined up out wide. I think he can do all the YAC stuff Burks did in college. If I were to trade down and he were still there a few spots later I could see it as a more realistic possibility, knowing you gained a 2 or a 3. Either way, you have to assume if they did draft a Brock Bowers, he would figure prominently in the offensive scheme. It’s not that I think it’s the most advisable option, but it’s rare we are within probable striking distance of a prospect of this caliber.
  9. The first scouting report I read on Rome Odunze said he needs a special kind of quarterback who was bold and willing to throw him the ball into tight windows and just put it up to take advantage of his catch radius. So my first read on him was there’s a good shot Odunze and Levis could be perfect for each other. I’d love to get Nabers but I would swing on Odunze if he’s gone, too, thinking they have a shot at Patrick Paul at 38 and Kill Bill Callahan on staff. Or maybe one of the other lower tier guys drop out of the first. But I don’t think the Titans will ignore Alt or Fashanu if one is there at 7, unless those guys aren’t rated as vastly superior to some others after all is said and done.
  10. There’s no need to trade up from 7. It would kill the rest of the draft. Someone great will fall to them at 7, and if they don’t want them, they can trade down and gather more picks. But really if Odunze, Fashanu and Bowers are there, what’s the problem? With Bill Callahan, you’ve got a case even if you don’t like Fashanu, or want to take Bowers to both have a top pass catcher and help out someone like Patrick Paul, Suamataia, Javon Foster, etc. It’s actually really hard to get screwed over from where we sit. There’s no value difference to me in picks 5-7. And unless there is a massive difference in MHJ vs Nabers/Odunze there’s no point in spending the round two or greater capital it would take to move up.
  11. I’d like to have Alt and Guyton. Looks like a lot of his clips yesterday were at RT with UConn’s Christian Haynes at RG. I’d be fine with Guyton in that context with Callahan on staff, but I’m not sure I’m saying that dude is a bona fide left tackle just yet.
  12. Feels good to get the guy we wanted. Of course we’ll see how it all plays out, but having these rubber band secondaries just has got to go.
  13. I have less doubt that Xavier Legette’s speed than I do Rome Odunze’s speed, even though both are purported to be able to run a 4.34. I do think there are ways you can use “XL” differently than Odunze. His speed does show up on tape.
  14. Looks like Malik Washington dominated at East West Shrine Bowl practice today. I’ve watched him as a potential round 4-5 guy but he maybe goes in the third. FWIW he’s one of the few receivers grading over a 90 by PFF. Elite separation as well as production on the year.
  15. Be interesting to see if Devontez Walker deserves second round consideration. The PFF Stock Exchange guys rate him above both Thomas Jr. and Franklin. But there was weird transfer stuff going on with him and so he only got to play part of the season.
  16. I like Troy Franklin the most after the top 3 WRs. I don’t want Coleman at all. My suspicion: he crazy.
  17. And he’s projected to go higher but I can almost see Adonai Mitchell falling into our laps at 38.
  18. IMO Guyton, Paul most likely at OT. Would love Morgan at 38 but if the hype is real it’s hard not to see him rise. At WR, Worthy, Legette, maybe Franklin, Devontez Walker, eesh, maybe Ladd McConkey. I may be out there but I really like JaLynn Polk later in round two.
  19. If we could land Mitchell or Nubin and add either Sneed or Owunzie that would be huge for the secondary and defense. My mind has circled back to this since Dennard Wilson has been brought up as a legit candidate for DC.
  20. Watching the PFF Senior Bowl Preview with Jim Nagy. WRs to look for: Ricky Pearsall, Jacob Cowing. Nagy said he doesn’t think Pearsall makes it out of the 3rd round. Scot McCloughan, former GM of the 49ers told Nagy that Jacob Cowing’s comp to him is DeSean Jackson. Said not as shifty as Tank Dell, but he is just as explosive and probably faster. I’ve been watching both of them for two or three months, and I like both for day 3, along with Jamari Thrash (Louisville), Brenden Rice (USC), Malik Washington (Virginia) and Ainias Smith (Texas A&M). Part of me would really love to draft Quinyon Mitchell CB (Toledo) or Tyler Nubin S (Minnesota) in round two. So WR could easily turn into a day 3 thing.
  21. Yeah, I doubt it, too, but it’s all the same to us if he goes anywhere between 1-6. Sad .
  22. I certainly do, but I, sir, am a nincompoop. It’s mathematically possible MHJ, Nabers and Odunze are all gone when we pick. And unfortunately, I’m starting to see mocks where Chicago is taking Alt at 1, or someone else above us takes him. In that case it leaves Fashanu. His 2023 tape reportedly isn’t as good as his 2022, so whereas I ”feel“ like Alt is closest to being a slam dunk, I’ll have to wait to see how Fashanu does through the evaluations. I’m thinking there may be a possibility to trade down slightly, maybe to 10 with the Jets, or 13 with the Raiders, and if we can at least snag one extra second round pick, it makes it a little easier I think to take Bowers with that first Titans pick. But I think we end up with a choice of one LT, one top WR, and Bowers.
  23. I didn’t want Levis. At all. And it was like a curse met a cruise missile and he not only ended up in our laps, we traded up to get him additionally. I’m trying to not dislike Glenn to the point it’s another jinx, though I have no idea if he will be good or not, just like Levis, to be fair.
