  1. Hopefully Pitt thinks Skoronski is worth a boat load.
  2. If Bears take Skoronski, we go BPA. Don't think any quality trade partners will be left.
  3. No need to trade up now. Let the draft fall to 11 and trade back if there's interest. Draft Hooker or BPA.
  4. Professional lurker here... I'm not sold on any of these QB's this year. Richardson has the highest ceiling because of his athleticism, but also the lowest floor because of his inconsistent accuracy. Young is the surest bet, but his size and durability are a concern, especially playing behind a suspect OL in Houston. Levis has the arm, size, and athleticism but he throws almost as many INT's as he does TD's due, in part, to his tendency to fold under pressure. Stroud looks the part, has the arm and accuracy, but how much of that is due to talent versus playing with a stacked deck against inferior competition? I have serious concerns about his ability to scan and read defenses under consistent pressure from NFL defenses--and he'll face a shit-ton here. Hooker has a great head on his shoulders, good arm, excellent accuracy, but I've rarely been sold on a QB coming out of college with one good year. I'm biased, I know, but he's my favorite and could be had by trading back--which, by far, is my preference. If they're dead-set on drafting a QB this year, I'd rather it not be at the expense of future draft picks.
  5. This. Stillman is absolutely un-fucking-believably bad. Not only does he sound like what Mickey Mouse would sound like with a deeper voice but he's contrarian about everything, just for the sake of it. That's not unusual for talk radio but, combined with his pre-teen, Oompa Loompa-sounding voice and bad takes, it infects everyone else around him like an airborne virus. Floyd's insight would be better surrounded by someone else. To me, there's no better air time than when Greg Cosell is on Midday 180. The guy watches tape, he knows the game, and the way he breaks down film, draft prospects, and current NFL players is top notch.
  6. Traded down twice and picked up a hoard of picks in the second, third, and fourth. I'm a UT fan, so it's a little orange-clad but John Kelly is going to turn heads. The dude runs pissed the F off, every time.
  7. Tretola is maybe the most intriguing pick, IMO. I love OL with a nasty streak, add in the fact that he was coached by Bielema and I'm sold. He might not be the most talented prospect, he might not even develop into a starter but, I like well coached players who, though they may not wow you with talent or numbers, come from a system with a history of producing good NFL players. I'll be watching his progress more closely than perhaps some of the others, initially.
  8. My only concern is a slight one at best. He'll be playing behind a sub par line for the first time, maybe ever. Whether the backs that have come out of Alabama are a product of their OL or just an one of the many reasons why Bama is so good at what they do, I don't know. Simply put, they reload with some of the best RB's and offensive linemen year in and year out. Their OL is notoriously good to great every year because they're well coached and, save a few players here and there (*ahem* Derek Barnett), they practice against the best talent they'll see over the entire season. Henry's run through lanes large enough to have Warmack run through them, with regularity. Were his numbers and accolades his own doing or was he a product of a system that churns out Heisman caliber RB's like a pez dispenser? But maybe Henry's different. He certainly has the measurables. Either way, I like the pick. It's more than just a safety net for Murray, it's drafting depth, talent and a future, if not inevitable, starter.
  9. Good analysis. I tend to agree with most of what you said, although I'm not 100% that Henry is the best back. I'm not sure who is but Alex Collins is a guy who I could see having a Jamal Charles-type draft status and career. Alabama backs have a history of underwhelming in the NFL. I'm not saying that Henry will follow suit but that trend worries me a little...but I'm still as excited about our prospects at RB that I've been since CJ's rookie year. I don't know a damn thing about the Safety we picked but I like the fact that he's been on JR's radar for a couple of years. I'm very impressed with Robinson, so far. I've always liked the way the Pats have drafted, acquiring picks while simultaneously adding productive and talented players. When's the last time you've looked forward to next year's draft for any other reason other than we're (ugh) likely to lose a lot of games? I like the picks thus far. Looking forward to today's haul too.
  10. Completely agree. He either thought that, because he was the marquee signee, they would meet any demand or request he made, i.e. letting him play like he did here, and he would continue to thrive or that he was so unstoppable that he would continue to thrive regardless of the scheme, i.e. "How can football be that different? I'm a defensive lineman." Though I'm sure, after the meeting he mentioned with Shanahan, he knew exactly what he was going to do and how he was going to do it. Either way, the tone of the article was both bragadocious and apologetic...though much more the former than latter. I don't dislike the guy, though he's not extremely likable, but if this was a veiled attempt at making amends with Washington or Tennessee, he went about it the wrong way, IMO.
