tgo
At this point - to me - it doesn't make sense to make any trade moves and give away draft picks with where we're at right now. The only thing that can be done is the coaching staff needs to make some adjustments with their approach and we need to just keep plugging along in the system and learning how to play within the zone blocking scheme, etc. That goes for Marcus, the OL, the tight ends, the RBs. The worst thing they could do this offseason would be to switch to yet another OC if they're sticking with Marcus (which, they probably will). It's absolutely imperative that the team and coaching staff stick together and don't start pointing fingers. If things don't really gel and start looking a lot better by season's end, then at that point you make some coaching changes (position coaches like Keith Carter, etc - can't switch systems again - need the coordinators to stay) and personnel improvements. The biggest frustration to me, and I know some people really disagree, is the fact that we changed coaching staffs at all. Most likely we'd be in the same position record wise, but the outlook would be less meddled and more straightforward and Marcus would't seem like some huge failure and look totally off. He'd just be looking like a middle of the road QB being managed, which is better when it comes to winning games. To me, the argument that Mularkey wasn't maximizing the talent on hand looks a little silly at this point - but maybe I'll think differently 5-6 weeks from now. God I hope so. But that is all neither here nor there. Water under the bridge. So when it comes to what we do going forward - the answer is basically nothing. Stay the course. Weather the storm. Keep developing within the new schemes and mastering them. Make some adjustments for Mariota and try to win some more games after the bye. Players need to be fully bought in and everyone needs to stick together. Patience, resolve, mental toughness, improvement, perseverance. That is what is required now. The chance of finding someone better without a top draft pick, especially this year, are remote. Slim to none. Bluth

Popular Post Starkiller
They need to throw Mariota in the deep end and let him sink or swim on his own. Stop trying to protect him (I don’t mean bench the OL). Put him in an offense where he needs to throw from the pocket consistently. They need to be telling him to stay in the pocket and deliver the ball and run only as a last resort or rare designed/escorted runs, rather than vacate the pocket whenever possible and extend plays. He can’t do it. Both staffs ran this same Mickey Mouse offense for a reason. Its true it’s hard to find a capable QB, not because Maroita is better just because capable QBs are hard to find. I’ve been on board with him being the starter in 2019, I’m not sure anymore oldschool, LongTimeFan, and Starkiller 2

Its hard to have an offense this bad and I won't sugar coat it any longer, a big reason for that is Mariota. titanruss
mularkey never had to deal with the amount of shit this staff has. i've never seen a coach handed an easier schedule 2 years in a row and the injuries we played against while remaining historically healthy need to be accounted for as well. mularkey and their offenses turtle headed at 1 turnover. ... imagine how bad it would be with all the injuries and quitters this season.
