Don't go, it's basically a massive port. Also the Frenchies protest all the time. Stay in the UK, as said to to Bathz that is a nice play

Train from London to Paris is $370 and I’m not willing to spend that kind of money for a day trip.

Cold & wet when I was there -- in late June! Great old, OLD pubs for some awesome cask drawn ales (John Smith, yum). seriously, I've never seen so many old pubs so close. York Minster is fantastic if you like the huge old church thing (the doomstone is scary). York has fortified wall around the city and fortress gates that were sort of interesting i guess. The place has a sordid history so might want to book a ghost tour & see the Shambles. But if you go, please make time for a steak & ale pie at Mason's Arms. Also, if you're that far north Scotland comes into play. Edited October 16, 2018 by begooode
pamo9
Agree York too far away imo. If you are into Churchill, Blenheim Palace and Cotswolds would be nice. Plenty of great pubs there too.

Two weeks total. If I were there for a limited time, I'd just see London. You'll spend too much precious time in transit trying to do otherwise and there are plenty of things to see and do while there. If you want to go to an historic pub, the one I visited and enjoyed was the Lamb and Flag established in 1772. https://www.lambandflagcoventgarden.co.uk/about Edited October 15, 2018 by ctm

begooode
London — Trafalgar Square and all that. I’m a uncultured noob when it comes to art, but National gallery is seriously awesome and FREE. The Churchill museum was kind of chilling knowing that so much of ww2 operations were coordinated from there, and the exhibits were a good mix of modern and contemporary. And don’t forget to do the London cab thing. And watch out crossing the street with those guys coming from the wrong side!
