All he has to prove is how fast he can pick up the offense and play 16 games. Stop with this nonsense.

Mariota actually has to play well, too. So far he hasn’t proven he is a franchise-caliber QB. If he had built on 2016 with a better 2017 we wouldn’t be having this discussion, but he had a bad year.

He also has to prove he can stay healthy because so far he has not been able to do that. He hasn’t played a full 16 game schedule yet and it’s kind of an illusion to say he only missed 1 game each of the last 2 seasons.

Going into year 4 as a starter, teams should already have a pretty good idea how good their franchise QB is. We don’t really know that yet. That’s why MM has the most to prove.

The minority isn't that minor. 25 people didn't vote for Mariota in this poll to 26 who did. The votes may be dispersed to varying other options but that doesn't change the fact that almost as many pe

Marcus is a point guard that has been forced to play center his first 3 years in the league even so has the same numbers as everyone's golden boy in his first 2. Which he did playing in 2 different systems for 2 different head coaches. Do we realy need to go through all the issues with the offense last year yet he still dragged this team to the playoffs while hurt and won a road game. Hell doesn't even know how good of a QB he can be  yet this is the first time an offense is designed for him.

Even if we assume that all to be the case, it doesn’t change the fact that he has the most to prove...

Mariota likely gets another shot in that scenario.  Vrabel?  I think not.

You actually think there is a scenario where the Titans replace another coaching staff and keep Mariota after he theoretically struggles? No F-ing way.

Vrabel signed a 5 year deal, Robinson isn't firing him any time soon.

Extremely unlikely Vrabel gets fired.  That isn't the issue with him having a lot to prove.  He replaced a coach who won a playoff game for the first time since 2003.  His hiring produced a mini-controversy among some fans and in the media.

Considering that he has never coached, much less won, even the 1st regular season game, he has a lot to prove.

This would fall more on Robinson imo. Assume the draft, free agency and Vrabel turn out to be duds. Robinson would get blamed more than Vrabel

I don't think he's getting fired soon, but just because his hiring cycle is out of sync with Mariota doesn't mean he has less to prove.

Name me one QB that was a franchise QB by his 3rd year that has been through the same coaching as Marcus, or has been as successful.

Again, his ability to learn new offenses quick doesn't mean shit going forward... Our only chance at a successful franchise is to have stability so going through 2 coaches already doesn't really matter

...Along with how well he plays those 16 games and not just 8 or so of them at an elite level.

These players don't give a damn how well Mariota picks up the intricacies  of the offense by week 3, he'll be just as competent in it as anyone on the team. They want him to prove he can play his best week in and week out.

How many player interviews did you watch about the end of season Mariota last year? They ALL talked about them losing their shit when Mariota stiff armed the Jag and showed some swagger. They want that guy the whole season, not one who is apologizing for the receivers or backs fucking up an assignment.
