Titans Release Tanney, Maxey, Muhammad

Interesting they keep Ferguson over Tanney, but more likely due to they can put him on the PS.

Then the commitment to find smaller scat back type players.  They drafted Muhammad (even though he's cut now) last year, brought in Lewis in free agency, and brought in Dawkins/Rose III/Wadley as UDFA's.

Love that attention to detail, @tgo! Getting Maxey's spelling correct when even Wyatt in his tweet had it wrong. :6_smile:

Detail is what I do man!

A little off topic here, but I'm annoyed by how many small RBs they brought in. Couldn't have brought in at least one normal sized RB?

Or they just think they have what they need in that department in Henry and Fluellen?

The Titans backfield is like the Hulk (Henry) and the Smurfs.

Landry and Evans will have them all smashed to smithereens by the time preseason rolls around.

Muhammad was a kid they kept on the PS last year.  Just shows they expect the UDFA group to be better.

Always thought it was interesting that Mularkey toyed with the idea of having that kind of RB in the mix.

Turned out Muhammad simply did not have the vision or lateral agility (straight line speed guy).

Muhammad just wasn't a football player. Just a sprinter/track athlete.

Ferguson is just a camp arm. They want to give Tanney a chance to compete for a job elsewhere. And certainly PS eligibility figures in, too.

Wadley isn't a scat back, imo. He's a downhill runner with decent juking and jump cutting moves.

Disappointing Muhammad couldn't stick. His speed and the fact some here would be worried that he may literally explode at mid-field were tantalizing.

Oh well... onto the next diamond in the rough. Wadley will stuff Japan back into the bento box from whence he came.

Who had that theory? Muhammad was like a really fast guy with the body of an IT professional.

I did. He's another 5'8 185 scat back like the undrafted guys, except we actually drafted him. Keeping a guy who fits the same mold who you drafted and kept around for a year over similar undrafted guys isn't an unreasonable concept

Yes his lack of lateral agility in preseason games stood out and not what I expected. He certainly doesn't have the power of a Dion Lewis either
