Some dictator wannabe gets a large portion of the electorate to completely dismiss the news media and gets their news directly from the guy in power while another large portion disengages. Personally I think Trump has pissed off enough people that enough people are paying attention to fight it but it's still the biggest threat to the US in decades. The main problems right now against this will be voter suppression and the wild card of potential further Russian interference. The main saving grace there though is that I don't think the Russians really want Trump to get complete control as much as they want a weaker America. They hate the media exposing them. But back then people couldn’t just tune out the real news and switch on right wing spin like Fox, Breitbart, Rush, etc and pretend it’s news. Nowadays conservatives are totally divorced from reality in many cases. They believe Trump is here not only to save America (the country's interests), but the world from Deep State Satanists. They believe this was already happening before Trump won and Trump has been "in the know" for a long time. Anyone and anything of any power or influence not in alignment with Trump is deep state. They only listen to Trump and Q. Any news sources, be it real or social media, are only discussed in terms of what Q has told them. Dissent is regular people is written off as "normies" not awake yet, or deep state, or pawns of deep state. They believe, as much as they believe in anything, that they are right. There is NOTHING Trump can do that Q can't reign them back in with "trust the plan". Week in and week out, they believe the current one will be the storm!!!! Only for nothing to happen. It just turns into the next week. You can see a few of them start to question it, only to be brought back in full support with more Q posts. They believe Russia is on our side, fighting the Deep State. They are completely okay with the military taking over the US, in fact at one point, it was part of "the plan". Yet we're the "traitors". Tux has already said Trump will disband the FBI. Does anyone think if that happened Tux wouldn't be completely behind a 100% loyal to Trump as the replacement? And we're the "american haters"? These people are as authoritarian as it gets, because they believe their worldview is correct. Without question. Now, how many of these people are there? He just took it farther down the course it was already going and took advantage of the situation. It's facts and science that have a liberal bias but instead of believing that you turn away from both. He saw how willingly you'll believe lies bc of your distrust of the left that's been built over the past decade+. Nixon called the mainstream media biased for their “attacks” on him, but they were generally right about him. Were they biased for reporting on Watergate? Were they biased for their reporting on Vietnam, which today is universally seen as a disaster? Were they biased on his handling of the economy, which caused major inflation? Were they biased about his support of pro-desegregation forces in the south, which was absolutely true? It simply isn’t bias to report negative things when there is a negative thing to report. Do people have bias? Sure. Do different media sources have some level of bias coming from the top? Sure, to some extent, but in the case of most of the mainstream so-called liberal media it’s pretty minimal.
