Jonboy
Has anyone heard anything at all from Mularkey since his final presser? I know some were saying they didn't expect him to say anything, but that's actually the exact opposite of the norm. Even fired coaches almost always put out a statement thanking a combination of ownership, fans, and/or players. From this past season alone, John Fox, Jim Caldwell, Ben McAdoo, Chuck Pagano, and Jack Del Rio all had some sort of statement. Arians is the other and of course, he retired and issued a statement as part of that. Of all the coaching changes, Mularkey is the only one who went completely silent. This seems yet another indication to me that things were much worse with Mularkey/Strunk/Robinson behind closed doors than we first believed. The Toddster
Bear in mind the things he said in that final press conference. He feels that he made good decisions that culminated in a playoff win only to be rewarded with a termination that likely puts an end to his career as an NFL HC. Gonna be hard for him to get over that. It's been a month, his career is over, the fans have moved on, and it doesn't really matter anyway. NashvilleNinja
I'm thinking JRob hired Ray Donovan to dig up some incriminating evidence of some unsavory dealings. Silence is golden. Tormentedrose

Jamalisms
Theoretically, the whole relationship could have been fine (enough) but the firing itself was such a wedge that he's bitter. It doesn't follow that the silence indicates the relationship as a whole was this bad. But one does wonder.

Ricky
His season end presser was just crazy. When AAS said he was the coach going forward he acted like he had a get out of jail free card. Said what he wanted to say and didn’t care how it was taken. He really did himself in and took the ship down and his shipmates down with him. He's obviously came to peace with it depsite Toddsters opinion. He moved on, I see ppl want him to continue to be a hot topic, just like they can't help but make a Fisher thread every month. He’s been the head coach for the past 2 1/2 years and it’s the offseason after he just got fired. He’s going to come up in discussions. Popular Post MIKE75
The first signs to me that made me question Mularkey was when the team would lose games he would be very quick to pass the buck and throw players under the bus and as time went on he continued doing it and thats when i stopped liking him. Instead of being a man and saying we made mistakes he wanted to delegate the blame elsewhere which was lame. However i thought he made himself out to look like a total jerk/loser/pussy when he opted to tell reporters that he felt that his family was disrespected because the team didn't roll out the red carpet and offer him an extension quick enough. Then i think after Amy Adams Strunk gave him a vote of confidence i think he thought that gave him the right to go over GM Robinsons head and start talking about his plans for the next season and how he thought the offense was fine and he was going to keep Robiskie. I think Robinson got Mularkey's bitch ass behind closed doors somewhere and let him know real fast that his lil power play backfired and changes were gonna be made or else. All Mularkey had to do was get fresh blood on the offensive side of the ball and everything would've been peachy creamy. My guess is by this point Mularkey didn't like Robinson flexing his authoritive muscles at all. There was increased tension between both men and instead of trying to work things out Mularkey showed his true colors once again when things didn't go right. That being said all Mularkey was good enough to be in the first place was a stop gap someone good enough to get a team over the hump but not good enough to get the team to the top of the mountain. No doubt Tennessee dodged a bullet because Mularkey was already regressing and not wanting to change the offense was alarming. The team clearly would've backslid and all the fans saw it coming. Luckily we got a new head coach, fresh blood, not some retread that some teams still sign even though its clear he's past his prime. We nabbed a younger head coach and he did a good job of bringing in skilled coordinators on both sides of the ball. One thing i'm glad about is the fact that the franchise stood strong at such a crucial point. TeamBass, XAEA12, freakingeek, and 2 others
nine
Its like Momma always said: "if you ain't got nothin' good to say....then just don't say nothin'." I'm sure Mularkey 100% believed in his methods and strategy and that things were on the right track. I also think he saw the writing was on the wall, which is why sounded so resolute to the point of being irrational during his final presser. I'm sure he still believes things were headed in the right direction, despite every single reality-based indicator pointing to the exact opposite. Had he acknowledged the staff's missteps and been willing to make changes, then we're probably having a very different conversation right now. But his defiance and steadfast refusal to acknowledge shortcomings convinced AAS and JRob that he would never right the ship and that the change was needed. I'm sure Mike has nothing good to say about what happened behind closed doors...but it obviously needed to be done. He had a lot of faults, but I'm not convinced many HC could have done this.^^ He's gone now and we are better suited to move forward. No matter how successful Vrabel becomes, I am not sure he would have been able to do what Mularkey did to get us here. Mularkey is old school, come on lets go kick some ass. He was able to get the team to buy in when the Titans were at a very low point. He was wrong to throw players under the bus. That's over and he has kept quiet. I commend him for it. That KC game was no band aid. I enjoyed the hell out of it, best half of Titan football I've seen in years, but it was not worth keeping him on as coach. And that's what would have happened had he not gone off the reservation. XAEA12, CreepingDeath, and Ricky
