This guy sounds like a JRob pick through and through.

- Not considered an elite athlete, but has produced at every level

- In high school, earned all-state honors in football and baseball

- Team MVP in 2015 bowl game and was voted 2nd team all conference, starting every game

- Finalist for Butkus Award his junior year, voted team MVP, and 2nd-team all conference

- Topped it all his senior season and was named 1st team AP All-American and 1st team All-Big Ten (134 tackles, 13.5 for loss, 4.5 sacks, two interceptions, 11 pass break-ups, one forced fumble).

- Known as a film-junkie who really understands schemes and can diagnose plays quickly

USC ILB Cameron Smith:

USC’s Cameron Smith is an instinctive linebacker who also features the athleticism needed to make plays all over the field.

-Cameron Smith is a heady football player who obviously spends a lot of time in the film room. He recognizes plays pre-snap and then quickly attacks after the snap. Smith is a naturally instinctual player who can make reads on the fly.

-Against the run, Smith has a knack for finding a clear lane to the ball carrier. He picks his way through traffic without losing his angle.

-Smith’s athleticism and balance make him a strong coverage linebacker. His feel for developing routes also helps him hold up in coverage.

-He is a dangerous blitzer who can quickly close ground on the quarterback. If he doesn’t reach the quarterback Smith gets his hands up and bats the ball at the line of scrimmage. This is just another example of his natural football instincts.

Edit: Stayed in school for another year, let's revisit him next year!

Believe he stayed in school for another year to try and be a 1st round pick.

Bottom line, this is a good draft for OGs and LBs.  Might find an opening day starter in the late 3rd.  And they can probably find a RB in the 4th, especially if all they want is a 3rd down guy.

He was one of my favorite ILB prospects, before he declared.  He flows through traffic better then any ILB prospect in the draft, which is huge for the position.

I'll take Penney in the 4th....
