Or a better sell/ran-route by Taylor maybe???

It goes hand in hand. The point I was getting at is Hooker was suppose to be some elite deep coverage safety. He hasn't looked like it yet. He let Taylor eat his cushion which forced him to react too early. Taylor just did what he was suppose to do and Hooker had a terrible reaction. It's a soft cover 2 look. They were anticipating a cover 3 that's why they thought Delanie was going to get the ball. The soft cover 2 was the best defense to defend this play but Hooker allowed Taylor to eat him up. If Hooker plays better defense it's likely Decker gets the ball thrown to him on the drag.

Just finished watching this earlier. Watching it on TV, I thought Taylor was the 1st option all along. Nope, it was Delanie.

Actually if you listen to the QB coach. It's a high low read. The expectation is that Walker will be open. But you still look high (Taylor) 1st.

Really bad defense by Hooker.

You guys are forgetting this is also born out of play action. Pretty key to this whole thing working. That's what helps fool the linebackers and safeties.

Which makes it even worse defense by Hooker because he has 3 on his side while he is responsible for a deep half of the field. He has no business being frozen by PA. Plus it's Hooker anyone that followed the draft knows he isn't going to do anything in run support.

Taylor was late coming to football, primarily a point guard in high school and also didn't play much or have a lot thrown at him early on at college; his being a bit more of a blank slate coming into the pros may actually work to his advantage; he can be properly trained in route techniques without having any lazy or bad habits from his college days. A lot of route techniques have to be changed because the hash marks are different in the pros and a lot of guys are trained to key their routes in relation to those hash marks in college.

He had 3 picks in 5 weeks coming into this game. It was his first bad game of the season. For whatever reason, he thought the CB to his side was going to take Taywan and by the time he realized it wasn't going to happen it was too late. Still Hooker's error because he has deep half and Delanie attacked the CB's zone, forcing him to cover him. You expect rookies, even talented ones, to make mental errors like this one.

Off tipped passes mostly not him really being a ball hawk yet, didn't think it was a bad game just not a great one like PFF said.
