It would be interesting to see the number of pass attempts

It's in the link.

It's what I suspected.

Pass attempts:

Mariota:  963

McNair:   834 + 32 bottle of aspirins for sitting through  the Steckel/Fisher game plan

Young:     799

Something to remember too is that passer ratings and other passing stats were just way lower back in McNair's day.

This is even 3 years old at this point as it only goes to 2014. The average passer rating is probably a little above 90 at this point while it was like 79 in 1998.

VY's stats passing stats were below average gong back 40 years.

P.S. Why no Locker?

Excellent point about period.  Another big stat they could present is QB Goff under Fisher vs Goff under other coaches.

Locker only played 30 games.

It could have easily been a 30 game comparison.  It would make way more sense to include the last four QBs.

It was only a comparison of games started, not games played. They had Locker at only 23 starts.

VY was 21-11 LOLLLL. Amazing. If Mariota had played with those defenses we'd easily have a SB.

That's what happens when you draft defense in the first round 80% of the time. Even VY can be a hero.

McNair developed slowly early in his career. He made the big strides under Dinger. Mariota is a head and shoulders above VY and Mac in year 3. Imagine what VY's stats would look like if he had to stay in the pocket for 3 years? His W-L record is not a true indication of his ability to put the team on his shoulders and win games. That said, if Mariota had thre toughness of McNair, the guy would be Robo QB.

VY also played with worse WRs then Mariota has if you can believe that lmao.

Justin Gage and Drew Bennett werehis best. He had Roydell Williams and Brandon Jones. Bo Scaife and washed up Alge at TE.

I always thought Scaife was a good tight end.

It really is crazy to look back at that offense. I always liked Roydell Williams for some reason. Gage and Drew were pretty solid though.

Crumpler's fat ass was just an extra lineman to occupy space.

Why aren't Mett's stats listed?

It's clearly anti-Mettenberger bias to use 32 games as the sample.

(sarcasm)

Mett only played in 14 games for us,  it was clear immediately he sucked.

It simple, write an article comparing the last four QB drafted to be the face of the franchise.  Either that or just compare him to McNair who had a good career for the franchise.  Jake Locker should not to be swept under the rug.  He was on the roster for four years, a first round draft pick who played for the Titans.  It's ridiculous to even write an article like that in the first place.  How do you compare McNair who played on the team that ran the ball and beat people with the short pass to Mariota.  Stupid.  Steve was winning games vs the number of garbage time yards a 2-14 team's QB would accumulate.

I love Mariota and if he can stay healthy I see him getting the Titans to the football promise land.  But just this year Mariota got Davis, Taylor, Decker and Smith.  WTF did Steve ever get?  Randy Moss?  Don't get me started.  These guys write to get clicks and grins.  How about who had the best four/two-minute drive record to win games?

It's as crazy as the endless who's the best Marcus or Jameis?  They play on different teams and are asked to do different things.
