Our DL isn't horrible but unless we send more than 4 teams can stop our pass rush with the 5 man OL and an extra blocker. We really need one more difference maker. I really feel like it was a horrible use of him. He's our most athletic pass rusher. Morgan doesn't have the quick twitch but makes better coverage choices. Huston
4 minutes ago, Soxcat said: IMO, except for the zone blitz to occasionally confuse the QB, we should rush 5 and stay disciplined up front. We did have Walden on the field with Morgan and Orakpo at times so why not use Walden to delay blitz up the middle. Basically see the open spot usually vacated by the C or OG helping out in pass protection and run him up. The guys on the edge can either stay wide or if they stunt the DT needs to slide outside. Walden has been pretty good although he doesn't have a bunch of sacks. He has blitz up the middle quite a bit this year, don't really care for having all three on the field at the same time. Walden seems better on the edge then standing up blitzing from the middle.

There were a few plays when he was a spy on Brissett and lurking on the LOS with his eyes glued to the QB. That said, we are underperforming in our QB pressures and sacks. Number9
16 minutes ago, Stan said: One way for pass rush to improve offense scores points. Not coming from the same pov, but it's a team sport. More points and a better backend will improve sacks. We have to accept that pieces have been added, but we have not added abundantly to the D. The team won 5 games total in two seasons 2014, 2015. Last season 2016 they won 9. Meanwhile, the defense has received the least of the resources added to the team and it's not anywhere near half. It's a plan. It's working, maybe not perfect. We are in the second year of a rebuild around what we think is a franchise QB. We added an injured #5 pick who got a new injury out the gate in game one. The plan is to set up the offense with a horde of weapons, Mariota, Murray, Henry, Davis, Matthews, Taylor, Walker, Smith, plus a kick ass OL. Have them gel in year two of the rebuild and hopefully carry the team to the playoffs. But the main thing is have them playing as a unit. Year three, the same mastermind that has put most of the above turns his attention to the defense. Is he capable of seeing what the defense needs? Can he go out and get good to great defensive players to add to this mix? I think he's already shown by drafting players like Brown and Byard that he has an eye for football players. He practically stole Adoree when you consider his return skills. Sure the defense isn't leading the league in shit now, but I am willing to bet next year when the defensive standings start rolling in people are going to say when did the Titans get all those defensive players? Look at their depth. Dodd was supposed to be part of this, but nobody is perfect at predicting how that turned out. Dodd was a great pick, just hasn't worked out. Patience.
