Really only a few things that I thought were worth mentioning.......   First thing is Jonnu Smith started the game as the inline TE over Supernaw and he held up pretty good in the run game a

The fan who called the QB run should be banished for life. How dumb can you be?

Marcus didn't throw to his right though..

On D on the early 3rd and 10 blitzed Cyprien and had Byard walking up and he picked up CMC on the swing route and dropped him immediately. A good combo of bold defensive playcalling and execution. Reed did take some wrong angles but then redeemed himself in coverage. He's aggressive in coverage reminds you some of a young Finny. They were subbing on D starting end of the 1st quarter, probably due a lot to the heat. Reminder to self, sit on home side of field in August and September; used to have upper decks on the visitor's side and it was nice catching shade starting in the 2nd quarter on the home club side. Club's totally spoil you btw; makes you never want to go back; now if I could only afford them :4_joy:

Reed did actually get a few snaps at CB toward the end of the game an managed to rack up like 3 PD in one quarter.

I didn't see the line-ups at the very end and wondered if he played some at CB.

Still curious to see him get so many snaps at FS and wonder what it means in terms of his spot on the roster and the role they want for him

I don't like him at FS nearly as much as at CB. He takes bad angles vs the run at FS and was responsible for one of their big runs yesterday. He absolutely smothers him man in man coverage and if they're trying him out at FS they must feel he's good in space/zone. I really want to see him run with the ones.

I agree but you have to be careful using depth charts and line-ups in the preseason games. I'm sure he's played a ton against starters in camp and vs the Panthers in the scrimmages. They know what he can do at this point.

That's fair. I've just seen him dominate the lower tier players enough to want to see if he can hang with the big dogs. Only way to prove it is to get the shot.

I'm not a fan of qb runs at all.  But if Mariota couldn't do it yesterday then when could he do it?  If he's going to be on the field you can't hold him back.  Or he shouldn't be playing.

I understand the concern about designed QB runs...but the fact is, those are some of the safer plays for Marcus because he can avoid contact and protect himself.   The fact is, he takes far more punishment standing in the pocket than he does running the ball.

I disagree. Why isn't Brady or Brees playing in these first two preseason games when they aren't hurt. Those teams view there qbs as irreplaceable. Not saying he didn't need to play but you can't have the season ended on a ridiculous play like that. Remember the blindside hit McNair took against KC.
