Trump and Race Relations

A good article on Trump and race relations. Over the years, you hear Trump hanged out with Micheal Jackson, James Brown, Muhammad Ali and even rappers like Puff Daddy and Kanye West. So, how in 2017, he's now considered courting racists?

Could it be that Trump is simply an opportunist without any core beliefs or ideology? He recognize and tapped into the growing Obama derangement syndrome and with Breitbart, Fox News, Hannity, Limbaugh, various right wing sites and the sycophants encouraging him, he unexpectedly became POTUS?

I've always wondered if Obama had invited Trump to the White House and played a couple of rounds of golf with him. Would Trump still be a Democrat? Obama didn't kiss the ring and then publicly mocked Trump. Trump seems to like superstars and people with extraordinary talents, but doesn't really care about the common folks? Which is kind of ironic when you consider his base. Anyway, here is a really interesting, unbiased article with the following quotes:

The president “doesn’t see color the way the average person does,” she said. He assesses people based on “their successes and their failures.”

“He judges people by what kind of deal he can make with them,” Mr. Wallach said. “That’s his god.”

“Forget black friends — he doesn’t have any friends,” said Mr. Wallach, who left on poor terms with Mr. Trump after a history of credit card theft. “He’s actually a lonely man.”

“It’s definitely easier to be with your own kind. It’s easier for everybody, so if someone is super, super special and super, super interesting you can take them out,” Ms. Young said. “

I don't think Trump is a racist.  He just found a niche that got him what his money can't buy....admiration.  He became addicted to it during the campaign, but had no clue how to ride the campaign into the presidency.

Honestly this fits the read I've had in him.

I don't think Trump is a racist in the classic sense of the word. I don't believe he personally acts out of any racial animus. I do however believe that his callous disregard for anyone that isn't rich and his willingness to embolden true racists does just as much damage to people of color as if he was a raging racist. The way he's more than willing to fuck poor, white Trump voters out of healthcare and push economic policies that he knows favor the rich tells me all I need to know.

Trump doesn't care about anyone he isn't directly, personally involved with and even those people are constantly walking on egg shells because he's so volatile. His loyalty or affection for people lasts only until he can no longer get something from the relationship. That's why he freaked out on the CEOs that recently ditched his ass. They were no longer useful to him so he attacked them. He's a small, vindictive, immature little ball of hate and low self-esteem. I'd feel bad for him if he wasn't such an embarrassment to our country.

I agree with most of this but let's be honest none of the policy stuff (except the Russia stances) are from Trump. It's all Pence, McConnell and Ryan. Trump doesn't know shit about that stuff and doesn't care.

He thought he'd let them handle the policy and w/ GOP control he'd just get credit for wins and hed throw money at the military to buy their support (bc it works in other countries but not here) and he'd skim as much money as possible to get as rich as he could while creating a Russian style oligarchy in the US with his rich friends.

But he has 0 respect for poor people and due to a lot of minorities being poor, that comes out as racism

Watch what happens to a black republican who was supposed to be defending Trump. He can't! He is so distraught he cries on the air.

OK, Is he just realizing Trump has been giving encouragement to these people?  Who did he see if he was brave enough to go unescorted to a Trump rally?  Who did Trump seek on people?  "hit them in the mouth, I'll pay your fine."

Hard to feel sorry for the guy but I guess he spoke up. Maybe that's the reason he is crying because it was hard for him to admit what every other black person was telling him.

Trump has a long and documented public history of being a systemic racist.

Trump was a 27 year old company president when he was  busted by the feds for discriminating against black and Puerto Rican tenants.  This was blatant stuff, like telling a black applicant there were no apartments and giving a white applicant a choice of two right afterwards.

He took out full page ads urging the execution of the Central Park Five, who were wrongfully convicted of raping and murdering a jogger.  This was a time of enormous racial tensions in NYC, culminating in the Crown Heights riots a few years later.

He's arguably a major contributor to the racial tensions in New York City in the late 1980s, it's not just opportunism or a few off the cuff comments.

I just can't believe it really took this long and for this much to happen for many Americans to realize something isn't right. In the future, there will come a politician who thinks, feels, and acts just like Trump but will be much better at hiding the ugliness. We are not prepared to fend off such a figure and I fear we may never be. Trump has created the blueprint for the next fascist movement right before our eyes and it will be much worse than what we're seeing right now.

During the campaign, I thought voters would never elect a demagogue and flawed candidate like Trump as POTUS. I was wrong.

Most voters today appear to forget the past learnings of the various demagogues who in their quest for power tried to divide this country. I'm hoping that the lessons learned from the Trump era will prevent us from making a similar mistake for at least the next 20-30 years. I don't want Trump's boorish behavior, temperament  and divisive tactics to become the new norm for our politics.

I still have faith in our country to self correct. I hope I'm not wrong again in 2020.

Alot of what gets discussed as being racist is really racish.  As in yeah, Ludicolo is kinda racist but at the end of the day it's still just a pokemon.

On the other end of the spectrum are folks like the Donny Johnny who've used their power and influence to promote a racist society, even when it goes against their own wealth or self interest.

Trump is a balls out racist, this last week he did pretty much everything necessary to earn the label short of wearing sheets and lynching a pedestrian.

It cracks me up that you still see so many people/media say: "Well I don't think he's really a racist"

He's proud of it and comes as close as he can to outright admitting it
