Has Obamacare served its purpose?

After seven years of listening to "repeal and replace", watching the GOP  fail to even agree on what should be in a bill to repeal the ACA was hilarious.

Also, reading all of the Monday morning QB articles about what went wrong and the vocal ACA support in various town halls, I wonder if regardless if the GOP repeals the ACA, has the bar been raised for the expected standard for healthcare in this country?

Are children staying on their parents' plan until 26, covering people with pre-existing conditions and guaranteeing at least 15-20 million people can get coverage the bare minimum any new bill must have to go forward?

If that's the case, IMHO, the ACA served its purpose. To bring awareness to this growing healthcare crisis that has been devastating families for decades and to set the baseline for what should be in any acceptable healthcare bill.

Liberal vomit; where do these Demo's/Liberals purpose to retrieve funding for this colossal lie guaranteeing 15-20 million people coverage? Mother nature is calling them to become a fossil, contribute to our oil consumption and stop eating my food - survival Bro - embrace it!

Listen dummy, you are already paying for the uninsured because ERs can't check with a person's insurance before providing treatment.

The only question is whether the government pays this cost as an entitlement or if you pay it as the cost of insurance out of your paycheck.

How about it's a more efficient way to pay for them?   We can either make everyone shoulder the burden or we, the insured, can pay higher prices to cover for the uninsured.   How is this such a difficult concept?

Because his "news" sources don't say it.

Denying access to primary care physicians drives up other costs.  For example: distributing contraceptives (cheap) reduces unplanned pregnancies (expensive).

Absent of an inhumane "Final Solution" universal health care is more efficient.

Where do conservatives propose we get the money for all the military expansion and conflicts they are in support of? Funny how the right never explains how we're supposed to pay for that.

This is such a lame ass retort. You're the only original on the board.  The only one with opinions not affected, influenced or swayed in any manner by anything.  Yeah, right.  Is your head so far up your ass that you can't see how stupid you sound.  Do you really think all your thoughts are original and you have never been influenced or affected by anything you may have seen or heard -- especially whatever propaganda sources you listen to or watch?  Only a self-absorbed narcissist would spout such crap.  Even your post idea above has been used hundreds of times on this site.  So by your own standards, you are, at best, a titans report parrot.  Thank God you have a computer to hide behind when you try to interact with the outside world.

Go check your "news" sources to see how you should reply.

And the deflection. Can't say I blame the strategy but it is a bit worn over the past year.

Wait, Let's Clown These Scrub-Ass Doofuses Some More

http://theconcourse.deadspin.com/wait-lets-clown-these-scrub-ass-doofuses-some-more-1793687360

Seventeen days. That’s how much stamina flinty-eyed deal master Donald Trump, sober policy knower Paul Ryan, and all the Republican Party had for a health care overhaul they’d been promising for seven years, before the work of negotiating amongst themselves overwhelmed them and they retired to their fainting couches. You can’t close on the sale of a fucking townhouse in 17 days. Holy hell, what a bunch of losers.

When the balky hardliners of the House Freedom Caucus visited the White House earlier this week, this was Steve Bannon’s opening line, according to people in the conference room in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building:

“Guys, look. This is not a discussion. This is not a debate. You have no choice but to vote for this bill.”

[...]

One of the members replied: “You know, the last time someone ordered me to something, I was 18 years old. And it was my daddy. And I didn’t listen to him, either.”

Great job, Wet Bag Of Cigarette Butts That Thinks It’s Judge Holden. You really cracked the fuckin’ whip, there. The New York Times reports that even after the bill’s failure became clear, Bannon wanted the vote forced at all costs on Friday afternoon so that he and Trump could compile an “enemies list” of Republican legislators who refused to support it. Ha! What the fuck would this inept shit-heap have done with it? You don’t want to make an enemy of the least popular president in American history, my friends. He might, uh, campaign for your reelection.

I referenced this in the health care thread.  The real failure here is the absurdity of expecting to push this through in a matter weeks.  An entire revamping of our current health care system in a matter of weeks.  Not only that, they were changing shit left and right in the final hours to get people on board.

This was a cluster fuck of epic proportions.  7 years of running on replacing the ACA with something better, condensed down to a few weeks of debate and a forced vote.  Health fucking care.  A few weeks.  How did they expect it not to appear a clown show?  It was clear their lack of a plan.  Clear being 17% of people actually thought positively about it.

It really is unbelievable how unprepared they were.  It's like they truly wasn't expecting to ever have a chance at changing the health care policy in the country.

The hardcore Trumpers say that this was all orchestrated to marginalize the Ryan wing of the party allowing Trump to go forward and make a real bipartisan deal in the future. These people always say everything Trump does is a genius move though.
