Lets say Obama was president from 00-08 and we were attacked by Bin Laden(Saudi's allowed to leave the country while planes grounded), Economic collapse, Hurricane Katrina and we were losing 700K jobs a month when he left office people would be completely losing it. Imagine Obama saying he never even thought about Bin Laden! He would have never gotten re-elected, been impeached and possibly hung from a tree.

Now imagine Bush takes over, saves the auto industry, kills Bin Laden, starts the draw down from Iraq, gets unemployment down in the mid 4s and the Dow goes from 6500 to 20,0000 and passes a healthcare plan. Republicans would be replacing Reagan with Bush as the guy they jack off to and they'd be seriously trying to put Bush on Mt. Rushmore.

Gasoline prices will show the hypocrisy also.  Remember when gasoline prices hit record prices in 2008.  Then during bottom of recession they broke below $2 a gallon because of low demand from the recession.  Then in 2009 and 2010, during recovery, they went back to $3 and republicans when crazy blaming President Obama completely ignoring that gasoline had been over $3 for like 2 years prior to President Obama's election and were around $4 during the Spring/Summer of 2008.  Now after breaking below $2 for the last 6 months, gasoline prices are trending up and are projected to be near $3 by Summer.

The President has no real input on prices, but it will be interesting this Summer, watching Republican pundits ignore the near doubling in price over the last 12 months in comparison to how belligerent they were on gasoline prices in 2009/2010.

Go back a little longer, 20th of Jan. 2009. The guy who started his term with the only ever major terror attack on our soil and book ended it with the worst financial crises since the great depression. Oh, and in the middle he went to war with the wrong country based on proven lies.

We are no longer in a rescission. We did not suffer another large scale attack. Obama didn't lead us into new wars. Obama's term was worlds better than Bush's.

Actually, go back one more president when Slick Willy had the  opportunity  to kill Bin Laden and passed.

This is stupid and a waste of time to read. Bush Senior could have done the same. So could have Reagan at this clip! Take the kid out!

We'll we all know what bush's approval ratings were when he left office.   But way to go on fabricating obama's record.  Real unemployment is not down, and is a big reason rural America went for Trump.  Obama did not save the Auto industry by any stretch of the imagination.  They could have filed for bankruptcy, end of story.  Obama removed troops from iraq, which allowed ISIS to take over.   Obamacare is a failure.

Ronald Reagan he is not, and not even remotely close.

If the roles were reversed it would be "real" unemployment" and all these things would have been done by Bush. I know and you know it.

You forgot about Bin Laden

Bill Clinton tried to kill Bin Laden. Ordered cruise missile bombings in Afghanistan and the Sudan. Missed him by a couple of hours. He was criticized conservatives for this "Obsessing over Bin Laden" they said.

It is real unemployment.  Problem is the world is changing and capital is flowing into sectors that is leaving many behind.

http://iasc-culture.org/THR/channels/Common_Place/2015/02/what-the-new-flows-of-capital-mean-and-why-they-matter-for-cities/

Like the ghettos, who became bitter that they were left for dead and forgotten, now the rural areas are experiencing the same.  Difference is there's enough numbers to have still have a voice.

Now I don't think any of our right wing friends, particularly TDF, will accept this, as it is reality and doesn't fit the narrative.

Fact is the world is and has been changing, the economy has been changing with it.  Hell, I get it.  I'm educated, living in an economic boom area, fairly on pace with consumer tech, and still afraid I'll be one of those left behind.  It's not hard to imagine how those that are living in rural areas with no hope for opportunity feel.

It has become a scary world for many, and voila, president Trump.

The bad outlook on the economy is perception for the most part.  A group interviewed delegates from every delegation at the Republican convention and also interviewed a lot of people at Trump rallies across the US.   What was found from those interviews highlights this as a perception problem versus a real one. Most of the interviewees all thought the overall US economy was bad.  They cited the "real" unemployment and opined that most people were struggling.  Yet, almost all of them said their particular areas were doing well and were real bright spots in the overall bad economy when asked about how it was where they lived.

In other words, they basically thought the rest of the country was doing poorly while it as okay to good where they lived.   It had little to nothing to do with their own situation.  Had a republican been President, in the exact same scenario, those people would have likely been singing completely different tunes.

http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/07/rnc-convention-gop-delegates-economy-is-great-214068

The delegates here have varying degrees of enthusiasm for Trump, but they all seem to agree the Obama economy is a ghastly mess.

Except for the economy wherever they happen to live.

“Actually, we’re doing great,” says Donna Gottschall, a human resources consultant in Greenville, S.C. “Employment’s up. Housing’s up. Everything’s green in Greenville!”

“Oh, yeah, unemployment is way down,” says Al Baldasaro, a state legislator and retired Marine from Londonderry, N.H. “Obviously, it’s gotten better.”

“Things are wonderful in our town,” says Ranae Lentz, a Republican county chair from Bellefontaine, Ohio. “We can’t fill all the job openings.”

Just as most Americans say they hate Congress but routinely vote for their local congressmen, most Republicans seem to detect a national economic malaise while — with some exceptions in places like coal country and the oil patch — touting the economic progress in their local communities.

11.5 mill jobs created under Obama

Gee, that sounds really good,...  In a vacuum that ignores accompanying conditions.

Like population increase:

united-states-population.png?s=usa%2Bsp.

17.5 million increase in population since '08 means 11.5 million more jobs didn't quite keep up with the population.

We see this when we measure it by the percent of employment in the last 10 years:

united-states-employment-rate.png?s=unit

Or in the last century:

united-states-employment-rate.png?s=unit

Try comparing obama's "recovery" to Reagan's or Clinton's, and those 11.5 million jobs don't amount to squat.

Of course some people will tell you this is the "new normal" we heard so often 6 years ago, when admin officials coined the term "Jobless Recovery."  Of course that soon changed, when the ensuing laughter from economists drowned out their claims.

The above charts also illustrate the fallacy of unfettered immigration, considering there aren't enough jobs to go around as it is, and open borders adds more dependents, and cheaper workers, not necessarily more workers.

You can't have "more" workers without "more" jobs for them to do.

LOL at anyone from the right trying to criticize the economic rebound during Obama's presidency.

News flash homers. Republicans FUCKED UP this country's economy with deregulation and wreckless fiscal policy. That we're not still in a recession is already impressive enough. For the past six years we haven't been living in the dumpster fire that the last Republican President left all Americans to rot within.

Its like you're saying, "how dare Obama be so bold as to not completely clean up our mess!"

What's worse yet is you fuckers wanna do it all over again! Idiots.

Lol at your dribble.  Ronald Reagan brought prosperity after a worse economy under Carter.  At least you recognize the greatness of Reagan.
