Don't know Staples, but Smallwood was highly touted before the draft as one of the top ILB's. Good size, but may not be much of an athlete. Not expecting much, but we may see some of these guys play closer to the end of the year fwiw.

He's a guy that was a step slow as a DE or OLB, his college position.. but he has size and speed for an inside LB, with development he might work out.. he certainly can tackle

Probably hoping he'll help in the run game. We don't need a coverage LB inside. We need a guy who can take on blocks, apparently, and stuff the run. It sucks that our ILBs in a 3-4 have to take on blocks, but that's the way it is right now.

BTW, this guy did very little in college. I'm not sure how he even got an invite to an NFL team, to be honest.

Staples was a defensive end at Illinois but is converting to an ilb in this defense.. Good size player and after the steelers ran over us , we had to move on from woodyard

Haha what? They're moving on from Woodyard? first time I've seen/heard that.
