Where's the option "Hell no, that's just stupid."?

CTF's acount has been hijacked by ManningEnvy. Tex

Anyone know who this is? Hint: he'll never sniff the HOF.

Games 113, TDs 94, yards 8172, ypc 4.6, rec 339, yards 2962, 3x 1st team all pro, 3x pro bowl

I think a better option would be it's still too early to tell. As much as people here hate him, you can't deny some of his accomplishments put him in some very exclusive company.

How many RB's have had a 2000-yard season? How many have rushed for 1000 yards in each of their first 6 seasons in the NFL? How many have rushed for 6 TD's of 80 yards or more?

The last one's not even close, cause no one else has more than 3. The Jets run the ball as much as anyone in the NFL, and they have a very good offensive line. So who knows.

CJ's style of avoiding contact may offend a lot of people, but it has kept him from missing any games in 6 years except the one time his team made the playoffs and he sat out week 17.

Yep. How many RBs have the best season (production) from scrimmage ever? One. How many RBs in this era were ever OPY?

The biggest problem is that so many of his records and accolades are centered around the one year and then he has the three long plays to match anyone else's career again in 2012. The rest of his career is number padding, of which he needs more. If he gets more and/or gets more accolades that relate to another year or two, he'll get in. If not, he's probably going to come up in various years but never get the votes.

Doesn't help he hasn't kissed enough of the right asses.

Only way it's possible is if the Jets draft a HOF QB next year to replace Smith and he then carries the entire team to multiple SB victories.  Barring that, I can't see any way he ever gets in.

First guess is Shaun Alexander?

We don't know for sure if he'll make it or not.

Gale Sayers and Earl Campbell are in first ballot... but Terrell Davis isn't, because apparently he wasn't great for long enough. That whole sentence doesn't work together. All 3 should be in...or all 3 should be out. Try being consistent with the criteria jackasses.

I keep giving you all the right answer to this...let me give you the right answer again:

1. It's dependant on how he can pad his stats from here on out.

2. It's dependant on his relationship with the media

Check this out:

It's an exercise in looking at most dominant seasons by adding up total yards in single seasons past 1000 yards, 1200 yards and 1500 yards.

It ls obviously waited towards guys with longer careers who had alot of 1000 yard seasons AND that is why the author correctly points out that guys like Terrelll Davis and Earl being on it is very impressive in spite of short careers.

But wait! There's another guy who has only been in the league only 6 seasons who is on it. Only one current player, Adrian Peterson, is ranked ahead of him.

Again, CJ's chances, while slim, are based on some unique things he was able to do other RBs have not. Plodding for 4 yards a carry and 15000 yards is obviously not something he can do. But if he leaves the game with a few more very good seasons and some unique records it is always possible.

Here are some records he has per Wiki:

"He is the only player in NFL history with a touchdown of 50 yards, 60 yards, and 80 yards, in one game. A 57-yard rush, a 69-yard reception, and a 91-yard rush. (week 2 vs Texans, 2009)

Most total scrimmage yards in one single season: 2,509 (2009)

He is the only player in NFL history with 6 TD runs of over 80 yards. No other player has more than three.

He is the only player in NFL history to run for 3 80-yard TD runs in a single season on more than one occasion (2009, 2012).

He became the first player in NFL history with six consecutive games of 125+ rushing yards and a 5.0+ yards per carry average in each of those games (Breaking Jim Brown's record set in 1958 of five consecutive games).

In 2009, he became the first player in NFL history with at least 2,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in the same season.

With his three touchdown runs of 85 or more yards in 2009 (91, 89, 85), and one in 2012 (94), he is the only player in NFL history to register four career touchdown runs of 85 or more yards. No other player has more than two such career touchdown runs.

Johnson rushed for more than 100 yards in 12 consecutive games (10/18/09 - 9/12/10), which ranks second in NFL history (Barry Sanders, 14)."

So what if he does have a few 1500 yard seasons but while doing so adds to his list of 75+ or 85+ yard TD runs? He could get in with enough splash runs IMO. Maybe getting a chance to perform well in the playoffs wouldn't hurt either. The chances are slim but it is possible. He has a hell of a lot better chance than Eddie to get in.

Good post but I couldn't like it because of the bolded part.

It's really not that slim of a chance. It sure shouldn't be.

All of those accolades, besides the 80 yard touchdowns, are from one season. He had a good rookie year in terms of averages. Other than that he's had a mediocre year and several terrible years.

He's not getting 1500 yards a year....come on. He's not getting in. Why would a player who's had more bad years than good make it to the HOF? You guys actually think he's going to be better with that terrible offense? Highly doubtful. If he stays on his current trajectory, it would be a slight to several greats if he made it in over them.
