The Titans came out on fire in free agency, but slowed down just long enough for the Two Tone Crew to record episode 49. Jonboy and Jamal recruit a couple free agents of their own as Tom Gower (TotalTitans.com) and Code (TitansReport) stop by to drop their knowledge on all the signings. The crew analyzes contract numbers, who the team could sign next, and answers your Twitter questions. All that and more in this week's episode of the Two Tone Crew.

Excellent.
Guys hating on the Reynaud signing. It really means nothing. They can cut him in camp if need be.
I play too
I think they said why they're getting rid of Nate. They didn't like his attitude and effort toward the end of last year. So since they want to upgrade, they're doing their thing when they have a position where they want to upgrade via the draft. Get a consistent guy on the roster and the draft one high. Same thing they're doing at S, same thing they did at QB, same thing they did at LB and possibly similar to what they'll do at C.
QB: Sign Hasselbeck ---> Draft Locker
LB: Have Witherspoon ---> Draft Brown
S: Sign Wilson ----> Draft a S in the top 3 (2?)
RG/C: Have Velasco -----> Draft a RG and/or C in the top 3 (Jones or Schwenke?)
WR: Sign Amendola/Welker/Gibson ----> Draft a WR (Patterson/Austin/Hopkins?)
It's Muhr-Cal-ee-us! Haha.
I think you are right Reo and thank God I didn't go there Muhr because I would have butchered it too.
I had to pause it and haven't gotten back at it yet but I think he under values Green. The guy isn't a feature back which showed last year but he's a very good power/short yardage back which is exactly what we need and iirc he split time well w/ LT a few years ago.
I've severely depressed at the lack of mention of Taylor Mays in this podcast.
Don't think I didn't notice Jamal steal my Anti-CJ nickname for Greene
The Anti-CJ
BTW, I totally think they signed Greene so Munchak can pull the plug if CJ starts out poorly again. I believe this is why Munchak wanted a vet RB. He wanted someone who could step in and play from day one, not a rookie.
It's ok, you can use it
This definitely seems to be their pattern to me. Get vet depth... Draft young talent.
Yea he was great when he started talking about CJ getting hitting 3yds in the backfield on every play(laughable) and Tom set him straight
crickets started chirping
Yes, I'm talking about crickets.
I tell you where I did suck.
You guys lobbed up the question of DL versus DB and I still don't know the answer.
In both position groups we have a big money contract (Griffin and WImbley) that probably aren't justifiable given their performance last season.
The d-line group has a good deal of young talent, though after Morgan the group at DE is paper thin. The DB group has some talent, but in general,
it is weaker than the DL. In truth, we need BOTH another quality DE and a S and a CB. Plus we need a G and a better C long term than Velasco.
And we need a bunch of WRs since the group we have with the exception of Wright will likely all be gone at the end of the 2013 season (maybe WIlliams comes
back on a team friendly contract). And most importantly we need Jake to become a franchise QB< not necessarily a Top 5 QB, but a guy good enough that we
can win with a strong supporting cast.
DL or DB? Both. And I don't know.
I brought up the report of the Shaughnessy visit, but I think they're also interested in adding another veteran corner, more likely a slot guy. Gray moved Finny inside the nickel in 2011 and played Mouton and Sensabaugh, who sucked, there last year, so I don't think they love Verner there. He probably isn't ready to sign at this price yet, but if they could get Brice McCain for like $2 million APY, even if it's just for a year, I'd be all over that.
Everyone assumes Verner should play in the slot but I remember reading some negatives stuff from the Titan coaches about why they didn't want to play him in the slot. I believe it was something about him not being physical enough. The slot guy almost has to be a CB/LB.
